Got to snap a photo of this today. Apparently this is an "Edition One" so I was told? It's got the CLA45 AMG wheels and the leather seat with stripes. Ladies seem to love this car so it seems to have good market penetration. They said this thing will debut in early September. Sorry for the bad Iphone pic...

From what I have heard Mercedes claims the CLA is 2 inches smaller than a C-Class, another guy at my local MB dealership told me that's slightly exaggerated, and said for the most part the backseat of the CLA will be unusable . He mentioned it's sort of a E-Class coupe backseat, unless you're a kid, groceries, or fairly short, you won't fit comfortable in the back.

This might all be false, this is just what I've been told.

I got to sit in the car itself. The back is extremely small; I'd say even smaller than the C-class. The roofing for both the front and back seats is low so it's definitely not a car for the more taller person. I'm about 5'4 and it already feels tiny for me...definitely consider this to be more of a lady car.

It's too bad Mercedes-Benz discontinued the 6.3 V8 from all but the SLS going forward. The little pocket rocket CLA could have been interesting, though the German manufacturers have done a superb job creating refined yet potent single- and twin-turbo I6s, V6s, and V8s of late. Heck even the E90 335 packed 300 lb-ft of torque from 1600 rpm, enough to light up the tires without hesitation and drive the car to 60 from 0 in less than 5 seconds.

This is definitely a great alternative to Audi S3 and BMW 135i buyers. Need to see it with some aftermarket wheels and a drop to judge it fully though. But overall, nice job from the Stuttgart based automaker.
