    Default Looking at Bora Bora

So my 10 year anniversary is coming up and i have been trying to plan a trip for it. It wont be until probably late 2012 or first part of 2013. But i am just trying to get an plan going and so i can figure out how much things will cost. Also trying to get the best deals as early as i can. But i have been looking at St Regis Resort in Bora Bora, it is supposed to be the resort that was used in the movie Couples Retreat. The bungalows are beautiful and the views seem amazing. Just wanted to see if anyone else on here has been to Bora Bora and if so can they make a recommendation for or against going here. I am trying to be half way reasonable with the budget for it, but i am expecting probably about 10-14K for the trip with flight, possibly more if we go first class. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How many days do you plan on staying? Time of year is pretty important as well.
East bound and down, loaded up and truckin',
we're gonna do what they say can't be done.

Sorry, looking at about 7-10 days, depends on if the wife can be away from our son that long or not. I would love to stay 9-10, as we have never had a honeymoon or any other type of only us vacation. I was reading up on it and the temperature seems pretty equal year round, but they have a "hot" season where it is supposed to be pretty humid also. So i would rather go during the "cold" season. I dont remember the exact months for these at this point though. So do you think it would be worth trying to go there then?

My wife and I went there for our honeymoon...it was amazing. We went around the end of May. We stayed for 7 days at the Bora Bora Lagoon Resort and Spa and had one of the over water bungalow huts. It was pretty amazing. The view is fantastic from any of the resorts. I would recommend a resort on the outer islands...rather than the main island. Better views. The water is the most perfect color blue. Its pretty much heaven on earth.

The weather was fantastic. Seemed like there were not a lot of people around...so may have been a slower time...but the weather was beautiful so we had no complaints.

10k will probably be the minimum you will spend. Remember everything on an island is expensive. Bring a bottle of booze with you!

We did a bunch of tours so let me know if you have any questions. I have hundreds of pics as well.

Yea the St Regis is on the out island, seems as if most of the larger resorts are. For the reasons you stated it seems. I was searching on the actual St Regis page and it was quoted at about 10-11K for the room, so i am expecting to be able to find cheaper pricing through other avenues. I think flights might be the killer, i would love to go first class, but it was right about 8K for flight. Unless i can get some help from JPatterson on that. But i am not wanting to make it a trip about pinching every penny, i want it to be the most memorable experience. What kind of tours are available? And any chance i could get a few pics, to share with the wife? I can PM my email to make it easier, if you wanted. Thanks for all the help.

Get AMEX platinum and get the free business class companion airfare?

I went to the St. Regis with my ex and we spent 10 days there. It was truly amazing and spectacular, but the total cost with First Class airfare from SFO was north of $20k. That said, you better up your expectation if you do in fact go to Bora Bora. Off the chain and worth every cent!

No AMEX for me but not a bad idea. I know it will cost alot, but i am sure i can get some things for cheaper, like not reserving on the St Regis website for one. Most hotel sites even stateside ones are way over priced and can be found for cheaper. I appreciate your input and dont doubt i will need to expect it to cost more, like most any trip. I have some time to try and find the best prices, and also save up some needed cash!!
