I was inspired by a following watch modification 'project' I found on wus ->
Vintage Kampfschwimmer project finished (Loaded with pix!)
According to author it was intended as - "I wanted this watch to look like it had been thru 4 Tours of Duty, every weather element known to man and then buried with the soldier".
Now I'm considering to do similar project by myself, so before actually starting, would like to know your opinion.

Do you consider it cool or uncool?

Scary, but cool. Not my thing but I think it turned out just how he wanted it to.

i go to church with this WWII vet who is 89 years old; he wears an antique franck muller but the thing is, it was probably new when he bought it so the wear is "true" to the owner - that type of character i can appreciate.

this looks OK in my opinion i prefer a more genuine worn look.

If the wear was from crawling through trenches and mud and sleeping in ditches while avoiding getting kileld then it'd be cool with a story to it.

the wear should be natural and if it is that worn there should be stories attached to it. seems poser-esque to artificially distress your own watch

No.None of my watches ever get to that condition.I'll send them out for a full factory service.Unless I did the wearing and put all of the marks on it,then theres zero history with this one.imo of course.

Id do it to a fake one because yeah I think it looks really cool but if your going to fake the age, might as well just be a fake watch too and not "ruin" the expensive one in case you dont dig it after a while or wanna sell it down the line?

Kinda like buying ripped jeans. Just not my style. If you wear in those battle scars then its pretty cool.
