looking to have a different variety of lenses other than stock, but i dont want to break the bank...
Do you think Tamron is better than Sigma or vice versa??Here's my list of great value lenses for Nikon:
Tamron 28-70 f/2.8
Tamron 17-50 f/2.8
Tokina 12-24 f/4 or 11-16 f/2.8
Nikon 50 f/1.8
Nikon 35 f/1.8
Nikon 55-200 VR (outdoor only)
Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 (stretching a little, but it's a remarkable value compared to the 70-200 VRII)
Just make sure that your new lenses have built-in motors or they won't auto focus.
I totally agree with this, though the 70-200 f/2.8 from Sigma is better than the Tamron. It really doesn't matter for that lens though, since the Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 is only $300 more and that's what I'd go for in that focal range. For wide lenses, I think Tokina is awesome and better than Tamron, Sigma, and Nikons (except for Nikon's 14-24 f/2.8).Nikon>Tamron>Sigma
