Update: After speaking with the manager(s), they seemed genuinely remorseful for our bad experience and offered us a complimentary stay at the resort. I can give kudos to the management team, in that they seemed very genuine and are looking to change our negative experience into a positive one.

Here's my trip advisor review...

Such a horrible experience - where to start...?! First off - this is NOT a 5-star hotel. Whomever rated the hotel needs to go back and reassess. We've stayed at various 5-stars in and out of Vegas, and the Trump has a lot of work to do if they consider themselves to be a 5-star location.

We had a 1-bedroom strip-view suite... Paid a hefty price for a nice room. The "strip view" isn't all it's cracked up to be... you can still see the ratty little strip clubs, along with the train tracks!

What we liked:
- Large room
- Nice stainless steel appliances
- Large bathroom with very deep tub
- The smell of the lobby was ah-may-zing! Too bad the room smelled moldy...
- The food was great!
- The staff was friendly, except the spa staff, oddly enough.

What we disliked:
- The room was freezing when we got up there! We cranked it up to 90 degrees and it finally felt maybe 75ish 5 hours later.
- The room was DIRTY! Tape was in the upper portions of the moldings, like the previous guests hung banners. There was a rolled up piece of tissue easily visible near the wall.
- The cough had a HUGE rip in it. Again - easily visible but no one seemed to care enough to fix it. Wonderful.
- The room smelled musky. For Vegas (which is very dry), this was a feat all in it's own.
- No hot tea in the spa lounge.. it was all cold tea. But the pots were over something that looked like there were supposed to be tea lights... weird and disappointing. Any 5-star rated spa I've ever been to has hot tea... especially in the winter!
- There was hair in the shower too!
- No slippers with the robe... again... odd.
- It was our anniversary, and I ordered chocolate covered strawberries for delivery at 8pm. I ordered these on Christmas day from the Attache... The strawberries arrived and were FROZEN!!!! That was the last straw. I called and spoke to the manager (Glenn), and he gave us a $50 credit. Great. So we spent upwards of $600 at your hotel, and you give us a $50 credit for all this BS?

We expected so much more from Trump, and we were extremely let down. If this is representative of other Trump properties - we will NEVER spend another night in a Trump hotel. Compared to THE Hotel @ Mandalay Bay - this place has leaps and bounds to go before they can even be in a class with the other 5-stars in Vegas.

Sorry to hear about the bad experience. First thing I would have done is simply asked for a new room and you would have likely received an upgrade. Also, I've stayed at Trump in Vegas and enjoyed it - not having a casino attached, the place has fresh, breathable air. The pool was quite nice, the service top notch, and the room spacious.

We did ask. They were "all booked" for the night and couldn't give us another room. They offered to send housekeeping up to clean the room. Right - just what we want is to have housekeeping cleaning our room while we're there. It should've been done before we ever arrived.

Yes, it's nice that it doesnt have a casino attached, which is one reason why we went there. But trading that for a train that came through 3 times last night was a bit much. THE Hotel doesnt have a casino attached either, and they were far superior to what we received at Trump.

Thanks for the heads up, personally I loved the Mandarin Oriental regardless of what level room you get. I love how it's very private and you are not dealing with the crowds.

Thanks Raw - we're definitely going to have to try it out. We were stuck between Encore, Mandarin, and Trump... and like Vegas, took a gamble. =P We're going to hit Mandarin next I think.

As for THE Hotel - we had the H-Suite I believe. If you ask for an upgrade at the checkin desk, they will normally hook you up with spa passes and such. I highly recommend the Foundation Room for dinner... it's absolutely amazing.

That sucks about your expierence Jay...what I'm sure pissed you off even more was that it wasnt just any regular night stay...it was your anniversary which usually you want to go all out and expect the same quality/service. Over this past year I've stayed at the Bellagio, Planet Hollywood and MGM. If you stay at Plant Hollywood go elsewhere for the spa...they didn't renovate/update it when they took over the property. Thanks for the heads up on the Trump property..I'll be sure to avoid it next time...wanna try Aria or Encore next time actually.

Sounds like a bad experience. I am one of those suckers that actually bought a unit at the Trump. Your unfortunate experience just seems like you got a room that people used for a bachelor/bachelorette party. The staff is almost always attentive, and the rooms are always in tip top shape (with comfy slippers and a bathrobe that's really really plush), so it's weird that the room was in that condition. Even the spa, they normally do have both cold and hot teas, so you might have just been shafted there. I advise most of my friends to stay at other hotels, since I think the Trump is inconvenient for most and the valet parking situation is horrible. The residents have complained about it, but I have yet to see an improvement. I bought the unit as an investment, but now it's used more or less to house my designers when they are in town for trade shows.

Meh, sounds like a bad experience! Sorry to hear :( Stick with Palazzo next time, I love it there and pretty affordable and all rooms are suites!
I like Palazzo too. That's my goto hotel in vegas. I booked a room there the night after goldRush and they upgraded me to a huge suite with a fitness room. Too bad I was only in the room for like 4 hours.

Sounds like Trump a time-share unit that is available as hotel? Rooms look cramped.

Hilton Garden is still my favorite. Can't beat 1200 sq ft for less than $200. Plus, I don't like those ding ding ding in the casino. Having granite kitchen is a nice plus even if I dont cook.

Ive had great experiences at The MGM Signature. Sure, not the tip top of what you can get in Vegas, but I've always been beyond satisfied with my time there.

The cosmopolitan is next on my list.

Well I shot a very honest but calm/nicely worded e-mail to the hotel, with ATTN: Brian Beadreau (the Trump's GM) and received 3 phone calls within an hour of sending it. They apologized for everything and offered a free stay in a 1-br south-strip view room and they would like to meet my wife and I when we decide to stay, to ensure we have anything we need.

I can honestly say that their managers are top-notch. I think they genuinely gave a sh!t that we had such a bad experience, which really gets high marks for customer service and customer care. Although we dont really 'want' to go back... it'll be free, so why they hell not? lol. Honestly, if they just comped our stay and let us on our way, I'd rather that - but I'm willing to give them another chance (on their dime).

Kudos to the management team.

I stayed at the Palazzo the only time I've been to Vegas but I did go to one of the penthouse suites for a party and it seemed decent. Definitely not the most accessible place though!

That sounds more like them. You should get room service too, the food is pretty good.

Oh my god! No hot tea in the spa! Do you know what kind of spoiled asshole you sound like when you say crap like that? And, and, the room was, like, cold. Oh the horror!
