Please excuse the "re-post" theme here.

I have had a Sony DSC-W90, 8.1 megapix, 1080HD, compact digi cam for awhile now.

Have always used the auto function but realize I should really be using the manual settings to get crisper photos.

Have read the manual.

In real mans terms, what should I be doing on a more simplistic camera of this type for most, knowing that I am a beginner?

I am looking specifically for close-ups of small items as well as car pics.

Thanks in advance!

Hey,

I have the Sony WX-1 and its a great cam if you dont want to do really professional things. The W-series is more for simple things, everything is automatic. Theres not much things you can do manually. For this you would need a SLR. I would recommend you the Canon 1000d, good for beginners.
