Eddie V's in Austin is one of my favorites - filet.

Coal Vines pizza in Southlake & Uptown Dallas is some great pizza.

Lots of great local restaurants where I'm at in Amarillo.

Lili's bistro is a hole in the wall in the hospital district, really good.

Saw an Armenian restaurant on Drivins Diners and Dives last week from Austin. Called Pita something or other if I remember. Looked awesome.

Guys

He is referring to restaurants on the level of French Laundry etc.

I'm sorry but while Catalan and Da Marco are good, they are not on the same level.

I never implied that once and I'd be a fool to consider them even close. They aren't even on the next level down. The original posters remark was this ......

But I would say they are among the best Houston has to offer. All I can suggest is the best I know of or the best I can think of. I don't think there is a restaurant anywhere in Texas on that level hell there aren't restaurants in 90% of places in the U.S. on that level.

haha - i'm out!!

i believe my original point, whether my exact quote backs it up or not, was that there wasn't a TFL-quality restaurant in TX.

i certainly believe there are great local restaurants, particularly in the BBQ genre.
