St. Lucia who's been there?

Well my sister is planning her wedding to be there. She is looking at the Ladera Resort for the wedding ceremony and their stay. The family and friends will most likely stay somewhere else as its quite expensive to stay there a whole week.

Has anyone been there that can recommend where to stay that has a resonable price. Along with things to see/do??

Thanks
Diego

I've been there. Forget the resort we stayed at. I vaguely remember looking for resorts and remember there being this super nice one called anse chastenet I believe. Looked real nice from what I saw of it but I think it was also quite expensive.

You have to see the grand pitons while you are there. We took a day tour on a speedboat which brought us to a few different sites including an active volcano, the grand pitons (where you can also snorkel next to them) a rainforest and a waterfall. The tour was well worth the money we paid for it.

We stopped in a place called marigot bay which is apparently where Dr. Doolittle was filmed. There were several big yachts in this bay also. Rodney Bay was also a cool little town we visited. You can walk around the harbour and there are little tourist shops and restaurants etc. I went there a couple of years ago now so I don't remember exactly what I did. Hopefully what I have told you can give you a headstart!

I have! Stay on the North Side of the Island if you can. I stay at Cap Maison it was fantastic, got a suite with a roof top pool and terrace over looking Pigeon Island.....

Thanks for sharing pics, looks beautiful. Is there a particular reason to stay on the north side? Like i had mentioned my sister chose Ladera and its on the west side, 3/4 down. I will look at some hotels/villas on the north side but idk how long of drive down its gonna be.

St Lucia - luxury and things to do

Hi

The north of the island is where most of the 'action ' is - there are more bars, restaurants and people there. Rodney bay is the centre for the tourist. This is about 40 minute away from Ladera. The resort you are talking about - Ladera, is a great place but you get what you pay for.

If you want luxury at a more reasonable rate then think about a villa rental - look at Akasha, St. Lucia Villa Rental, Akasha the Ultimate Vacation and Holiday Rental on the Caribbean Island of St. Lucia - Home this is the top end of the villa rental market.

There are many things to do on the island and if you stay around the Ladera resort then it is difficult to get to many of the other activities you can do. They are more accessible from the North of the island.

If you want a list of things to do the take a look at this page St. Lucia Villa Rental, Akasha the Ultimate Vacation and Holiday Rental on the Caribbean Island of St. Lucia - Pricing

If you do decide to stay up north and want some recommendations of where to go and eat then the site above has some suggestions. We lived there for three years so if you have any more questions let me know and will try and help.

Enjoy this super island.

I don't know if it is too late to post, but I stayed at Anse Chasenet and it is amazing. True relaxed luxury with amazing food, beautiful location, great live entertainment, warm accommodating staff, and a terrific dive operation. Our villa had a large tree growing through it and a view of the Pitons and the ocean. I used to have to warn people to not judge it by the website, but it looks like they updated it. It was literally the worst website I had ever seen.
