Yetserday, Jalopnik posted a set of pictures showing what appeared to be a stretched Corvette, similar to what we would expect a mid-engined C6 protoype to look like. The photos baffled our colleagues for a little while and the debate into the mid-engined Corvette temporarily reopened.

That's what i was thinking. Could it be a development mule for another GM product using the Corvette chassis (think Cadillac XLR) but a 4 seater?

Kinda what I was thinking.

Stretching the chassis to make it mid engine doesn't make sence. The Corvette is a relatively big car (in class) and to make it longer (as a 2 seater) to compete with Porsche, Ferrari etc would be counter productive. The GM engineers did a fantastic job on the ZR1. My guess at this point is this will be a front engine 4 seater, maybe not even a Corvette product, but another GM brand, making the current body work a form of "camo".

The fenders seem to be very wide too. I think the only thing from the Vette is the rear end. I'm joining the Panamera competitor idea. Either way, I'm very excited to figure out what it is.

Things are probably different outside the U.S., but 'round here Corvettes don't really have a "wow" factor unless you're a gold-digging cougar.
