I'm going to Ciudad Juarez this October to help the needy. Hope I don't end up like this.

I can understand you wanting to help the needy, but are you out of your mind?!? I would not go to Ciudad Juarez, currently the most dangerous city in the world. My buddy is from there and had to go back recently because his relative passed away. He's from a very prominent family and they had a caravan of over 10 cars with their own personal army. There are plenty of needy people in other areas of the world that you can help where your life will not be at stake.

I wish you luck with that. You are a brave soul for attempting that. Personally I think you have a better chance in Afghanistan. Juarez is the murder capital of the world last i heard. That place has gone to hell.

Holy sh!t - lol yeah I guess I'm crazy.
I'm going to really re-think about this. Something I read on numerous sites about thousands including innocent bystanders dying in gang related violence.
I haven't deposited the funding yet (about $600 to cover transportation, food, and accommodation) to participate but have been given official leave from my work - accounting desk job - and have booked the flight.
It's a 2 week missions trip basically to help with construction work of a church and a school. Talk about a 180 change in environment.

I think a new church and school is the LEAST of that cities problems. they don't NEED a new church and school, what they NEED is a military scale invasion and cleansing.

^Not so soon lol. But at the same time I'd hate to come back living to tell stories like this.

As I said before, please do not go to this city. It is far too dangerous. It is absolutely true that innocent bystanders are getting killed every day. Gangs / cartels are not taking over...they have taken over. My friends guards literally are having to shoot people who are trying to break-in to his compound and get to his family who is still there. Why not change your flight to another destination and help out somewhere else?

If there was an award for the best Avatar, I would vote for you man.

Back to the thread, it's unfortunate that the dedicated workers are the ones who are now gone. Not many people nowadays will risk their life for their job.
