Im looking into the d3100 and im wondering, why does it only have 10 minute at a time recording?

Also, do you own one?

How is it?

I was thinking of getting this as my first DSLR, Pros Cons?

I would imagine that Nikon assumed that if you wanted to record more that you would by a cam-corder that takes pictures.......

My guess is size constraints of the device / storage media.

I think its a buffer size issue and yes the min possible is safer for the sensor. Remember you should be carefull just swapping lenses and doing long exposures let alone running round with the shutter open for 10 minutes!

I dont have a D3100 but i do have a D300s so same tech. Havent actually tried video mode yet!

I'd go with d5000 for Nikon, also, there's really no need to shoot a static video of 10 min or more, shorter vids are easier to edit.

Also, Canon has no limits on video i think. and the higher nikons like the d3s has a 5 min limit in FX mode and a 20min limit in DX mode.
