Has anyone used this combo and had any good results ? Im waiting for the D700 replacement before i go full frame, so at the moment i have a D300s, and thinking of using this lens with it. Im thinking it will be versatile being around 31mm on a nikon crop (1.5x) so can cover the 35mm range however at the long end its a 105mm on a d300s so has reach too!

The 24-70 f/2.8 is a great lens and I think it will be decent on an cropped sensor camera. Depending on what you shoot, I think you may not miss the wide angle at all.

My buddy used that lens on his old d300 and loved it. But he said when he switched to the D3s (or full frame for comparison) it really reached its potential.

The 24-70 is indeed a very good combination to go with this is something that would be a very good one to have as it indeed provides as very good quality of images and as always you can expect for the best results with Nikon.
