I pulled this off another forum but damn that's a clean install.

So we now offer custom iPad Mini Slider Kits for a lot of cars, we make these kits custom in store and are the perfect way to put the iPad in dash. The iPad must have the cellular built in to make sure it works while your driving around or you will need to tether it to a hot spot. The point of doing the iPad in dash is to have app mode. Real app mode. nothing better than a 7.9 inch retina display. Plus the A7 chip works better for using like Waze navigation than most Navigation units.

Also with the ipad mini you can send text and answer email while driving down the road and if you use a BT head seat you can control Siri Via Voice Command.

Dash Command is also a feature with a BT OBDII port dongle you can have real time driving and racing dynamics all in one clever unit.

Best part of this kit is when you arrive where your going the ipad pops out and goes with you. it is the perfect solution for the person that is always on the go.

Here is a few photos and video of the installation and fabrication process done fully in house at Al & Ed's Autosound Marina Del Rey.

Day 2 is always a fun day in the fabrication process. we get to the point where we have done all the cutting and now its time to make this dash kit look like a dash kit and get the texture and paint on the kit. some small final sanding touches and a few more photos and we have the progress we are looking for. If you interested in an install like this shoot me an email [email protected]

Some nice up close photos of the day 2 progess as we move along here to make this a truly unique install of this custom lotus dash kit. we do most of our custom fabrication in house and can do iPad slider kits on most vehicles. Here is a few more photos from day 2 of this 3 day installation.

Look this is alot of labor and sanding to make this happen on this delicate part. We are using Marglass instead of standard bondo to make the part as strong as possible so this kit is built to last.

Paint photos will be added to day 3

As we move foward we took i iPhone 5 desk top dock and modified it to work with our iPad Mini Slider Kit and with a couple special cables were able to get a true line out for the amplifier. We used a JL audio HD 900/5 amp to power the audio system and a RLC-HD know to have volume control. No need for a BT transmitter in this install or having to add an aux cable. We do offer a high end DTA (digital to Analog) converter but this basically did it for us and the sound was surprisingly good. We can perform this mod for you for the DIY guys out there.

I have always wanted to that in my car. A 7" tablet is about the same size as my factory headset.

My stereo is perfect for it. Just don't think I could make it very removable but that's okay. I can use Dropbox/Google Drive/Google Play/Pandora for music.

keep the roof off and the vents can be routed to blow out the bottom of the dash I believe...

could possibly reroute the air vents up and to the sides a bit of the ipad by the looks of it...

Looks like a very nice clean install.

Definitely great work on the install. However, for the life of me, I can't understand why people feel the need to have iPads in their dash. It just seems like way more trouble than it is worth. Do people really use these things that much while driving ?
