Some of my designers just got back from a recent Paris/London trip. One of the girls bought a couple purses as well as some key chains from Louis Vuitton. When she was flying from Paris (CDG) to London (LHR), her bag was missing, but oddly enough the other employees bags came out safely.

A day later, the bag was dropped off at their hotel only to find that those purses and key chains were missing from the suitcase! She filed a report over there, but is still waiting to here what could happen. When I book travel for work, I always purchase traveler's insurance, but for some reason, this time I did not. Is there anything that can be done? This really sucks.

IIRC, they claim they're not responsible for items missing out of your suitcase. If the suitcase is completely missing, they're liable up to $3,300, unless you purchase extra insurance. I would just give them hell and hopefully they'll do the right thing and replace the items, or at least give you some compensation. Good luck, I've been going through something similar for the past 7 months.:(

sad thing is, i fly pretty often (about 2 or 3 times a month) and have never experienced anything like this. i fly international 4 or 5 times a year, this will surely make me rethink how i travel.

I've been flying fairly frequently lately, I'm lucky enough that I can fit everything I need into a backpack and I don't need to check anything in. Seems awful sketchy that somehow the key chains and purses magically disappeared! Hmm....

Good luck!

Ouch...

My bag was lost the last time I flew... but when it was returned no harm done... everything in my bag probably was worth one of those key chains though :D

This is why I buy everything on my Amex, as it allows for purchase protection. Just got back from a weekend in NYC and somehow my bag got soaked with some kind of liquid and almost all my items have been ruined. A call to Amex and I am now getting a refund for the items I purchased that were damaged as well as for the value of my possessions that I had before I went to NYC (including the Tumi bag) that were damaged (have the baggage insurance on my account so they automatically bill me everytime I book a flight). Good luck, but I doubt you will be compensated.

I had this happen at Memphis international to Detroit. You can claim it o your homeowners or renters insuance. I have done it with success. You need all available information from the airliner that gives some account of the details.
They gave me funds enough to cover 85% of my loss. Good Luck.
