Inlon Agrimec Group, distributor of the Lamborghinis in Australia, says that it will cease selling the brand’s range in June 2011. The twist is that it is referring to Lamborghini-branded tractors, not the exotic Italian cars. Most enthusiasts know that Ferruccio Lamborghini started building tractors. What many don’t know, however, is that tractors are still being built under his name.

Same Deutz-Fahr acquired Lamborghini Trattori (Tractors) SpA in 1973 after Ferruccio lost confidence in that business. The tractors wear the name and bull logo of the infamous brand and currently have a 10-model lineup. The company has tried to stay true to the unique styling and superior mechanics that the famous name represents. Its brochure even uses terminology that wouldn’t be out of place in a description of one of Automobili Lamborghini Holding SpA’s latest offerings: “reliable and technologically evolved… able to compete at the top level in terms of performance, power, class and comfort, with machines of higher rated horsepower.” Under Same’s tutelage, the company has been able to produce and sell more tractors than the car firm has been able to sell exotics.
