Koenigsegg can take the P1, LaFerrari & Huayra with the Agera R

For those in a hurry:
- According to this article, the Agera R will be on top gear (at Dunsfold) soon
- They reckon it can beat the Huayra's lap time on standard road legal tires
- They also reckon a ccx with hand cut slicks (like the Huayra) would also be able to beat the Huayra's time.
- They don't seem worried about the P1 and the Laferrari, unlike "the two biggest Koenigsegg fans of this forum".
Dear God please let this article be legitimate. To be honest I never thought the P1 and LaFerrari were going to absolutely destroy everything. I think the P1's performance claims (especially the 2G in corners one) are exaggerated and the Ferrari is more show than go. Not that they won't be fast, they will be very fast, but I think the Agera R can certainly compete. Better power to weight ratio than both of them, and still can corner extremely hard. Not to mention all the records the egg holds were done before it got the 25+ horsepower boost, lighter wheels, and better aero.

Apparently all quotes in this interview are from Supervettura, official Koenigsegg dealer in the UK. Not Koenigsegg themselves.

If or when the Agera R gets a time on the Top Gear track, it will be the fastest. I'd bet my life on it. Compared to the Huayra/P1/LaFerrari/918, it is lighter than all of them (some a LOT more than others), has quite a bit more horsepower, and in my opinion its suspension is miles ahead of anything on a road car right now. On the track it carries itself like a race car. I'm going to greatly enjoy it making a joke out of all the hybrids especially.

srock, the Agera R is not lighter than the LaFerrari. The two are about equal in weight, 2,844 lbs and just over 2,800 lbs respectively. The exact weight on the LaFerrari isn't known yet but that is the approximate weight. Given Ferrari's capabilities, I wouldn't question this number. The Enzo was 3,000 pounds and I could see somewhere between 100 and 200 pounds taken off that. The Agera R still has more horsepower and most likely more torque as well, which is the important factor in Top Gear's track. It's torque you want in a short and twisty track, the horsepower won't really come into play. Ferrari knows how to get the most traction possible out of a car, so I would bet the Agera R and LaFerrari are close in track times. The P1 will be a great track car but I agree that I don't see it besting everyone else. The 918 is a piece of art and an engineering leap for Porsche but it would weigh a lot less without the hybrid system. I would be surprised if it beat the Aerial Atom's time.

The short story of this post, I wouldn't bet against the LaFerrari just yet. Until the exact stats on it are known, I'd peg it a dead heat between the Agera R and LaFerrari.

I also know Ferrari's business ethics, or lack there of. I've said it before and I'll say it again, they don't settle for second best and have been known to force journalists / car reviewers to place their cars above all the competition. Ferrari also won't let anyone review a Ferrari if a Lamborghini is also in the car review. It wouldn't shock me if they told Top Gear it has to be the fastest no matter what, or lose your freedom to review their cars. They've strong armed people for less important issues in the past.

^^ But they have reviewed the Enzo on Top Gear, tried it on the track and then have it been beaten several times, so I don't quite follow...

^^They had to borrow the Enzo from the drummer of Pink Floyd, Nick Mason, in exchange for promoting his book on the show. Which they did as a joke, but nonetheless, Ferrari did not loan them the car. Also I believe the 458 they had on the show was from the owner. And they've used Jame's 430 every time they needed it as well.

I'd be surprised if the LaFerrari weighs 2800 pounds, the Enzo was light, but the LaFerrari has electric batteries which weigh a ton, and lets not forget that Ferrari likes to exaggerate their performance claims a bit. I think it will come in around 3000, 2900 at the least. Agera R comes in at 2830 dry weight.

First of all, I think that Ferrari's claim on the weight at Geneva was bullshit. 1255kg dry on a hybrid? I might believe that from McLaren, who have proven that they can make cars very light and very fast, but not from Ferrari. If you do simple math on the lap time differences between the Enzo and LaFerrari on Fiorano and apply it to the Top Gear test track LaFerrari gets a 1:14.4. 963hp and 1255kg should certainly make a better time, since the Huayra is only 730hp and 1350kg and got 1:13.8. Granted they are different tracks but have very similar mechanics; if you compare other lap times between Fiorano and the Top Gear track like I did above they are either the same or very similar, so I think it is a valid comparison.

Secondly, I highly doubt Top Gear would be susceptible to strong arming from Ferrari. Like the person above me said a lot of their testers haven't been from Ferrari. Top Gear is just such a huge entity that they will be able to get cars either way, I'm sure one of the 499 people would be more than happy to have their car featured on the show.

I wouldn't be surprised if the hybrid V8 in the LaFerrari weighs the same as the V12 in the Enzo. Yes, Ferrari does like to exaggerate their claims however I see this as having a plausible chance of working out. It ALL depends on how serious Ferrari was on keeping the weight as low as possible.

My whole point is, until you know the exact figures on the LaFerrari, don't underestimate it. I don't like the car and think it's a POS, but I'd be a fool to think Ferrari won't go fvcking nuts on their new hypercar. If Ferrari wanted to make a hybrid hypercar that can take on the Agera R, stat for stat, they can do it.

It would be cool if the Agera stood alone in the hypercars and I'd take it over any of the other modern hypercars. But I also know what is possible when Ferrari unleashes its engineers like rabid dogs.

Them having a F1 team, as I've seen with their newest cars, doesn't mean much of anything IMO. Especially when the FF weighs 4200lbs and the only real F1 tech going into LaFerrari is KERS. FYI the engine in LaFerrari is very similar to the one in the Enzo, pretty much just an evolution of it (think Lambo's 5.0 V10 and 5.2 V10), so they should weigh almost the same. If Ferrari was serious about keeping the weight as low as possible it wouldn't have been a hybrid. It's true we don't know the exact figures on LaFerrari, but its lap time on Fiorano gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect. If Ferrari wanted to beat the Agera they could, but with this car they haven't done it.

I personally don't like any of the new hypercar offerings from Ferrari/McLaren/Porsche because they are hybrids. Adding weight and saying the added horsepower makes up for it is extremely stupid when acceleration isn't the only thing affected. The official weight on the P1 and LaFerrari aren't out yet so I won't comment on them in this way, but the Porsche 918 comes in at a massive 3700lbs. Walter Rorhl said in a video on it that it would weigh 700kg less without the hybrid equipment, that's 2200lbs and 580hp. How that sounds worse to Porsche than 3700lbs and 800hp I don't know.

I agree that the hybrid craze is a bunch of BS. They really don't belong on a hypercar. That's not the point of a hypercar, to try and be eco-friendly. I thought it had a V8 for some reason. Anyways, I'm waiting for the stats to come out to say for sure that it cannot beat the Agera R. It all comes down to traction on the Top Gear track and while being lighter is one way to be the fastest, there are others. I'm not convinced that the LaFerrari will keep up, I'm just not underestimating it. Looking at the track times between the Enzo and LaFerrari on the Fiorano track, if applied to Top Gear's would give the LaFerrari a flat 1.14, but the track makes the world of a difference and so do the present conditions. We also still don't have a lap time for the Agera R to base our opinions off of. There's enough unanswered for me to keep me from saying "ya, Agera R will be untouchable" at Top Gear. I want the weight, torque and acceleration of the LaFerrari first.

I don't know about the weight comparo of each engine, but LaFerrari has got a 6.3 V12, not a V8...Just saying
