If any phrase could instantly summarize the aura this classic 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS exudes, it’s “gangster.” And like any self-respecting badass, its mystique and intrigue is derived from the accessories it wears like a proverbial badge of honor – beginning with the stunning Donz Forged Gigante by Rennen wheels adorning the classic muscle machine. Eyes will immediately gaze upon these 19 x 9/20 x 12 beauties wrapped in Falken Azenis 315/30/20 rubber, a combination that not only compliments the Chevelle’s svelte-yet-meaty bodylines but which yields outrageous style and incredible handling capabilities, all backed by a complete set of Wilwood braking components with 14-inch rotors/six-piston calipers in the front and 14-inch rotors/four-piston calipers in the rear. To say this Chevelle Malibu SS harnesses monstrous stopping potential is a gross understatement.

Moving from the bottom of the chassis to beneath the brooding, menacing hood of the ’65 Chevelle, this “hit-man on wheels” proudly boasts a balanced and blueprinted LS1 350 powerplant with a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger fitted to the top. Fed through a custom intake that utilizes four high-flow K&N Performance air filters to keep dust, dirt and the occasional small hatchback from being sucked in, this engine and its components yield an incredibly impressive 586 horsepower and 760 pound-feet of eye-watering torque at the rear wheels.

Of course, along with the snazzy, sexy Donz Gigante rims, this Chevelle elicits stares, finger-pointing and envious glances everywhere it goes thanks to its wildly expressive exterior – beginning with shedding its original primer-on-red motif, the ’65Chevelle Malibu SS exudes a sinister appearance with keyholes and emblems that have been shaved and all chrome bits powder-coated black, save for the red, white and blue Chevy crest boldly residing in the center of the car’s grille. The body has been drenched in a dazzling thick coat of deep Torch Red paint, adding to its no-nonsense aura, and finally set down on a fully-boxed frame with a custom Ridetech suspension and the aforementioned Wilwood brakes and Donz Forged Gigante wheels.

Like all the collections of wheels in Rennen International’s stable, every Donz Forged rim begins with a Grade A 6061-T6aluminum billet, cut and put into a 10,000-ton forging press which yields the 6061 aluminum material with a completely refined grain structure. Through this process, the wheels exhibit not only light weights but extreme durability, making the material itself perfect for such demanding industries as aerospace manufacturing…and if this material is suitable enough for the complexities of the aerospace sector, it’s safe to assume Rennen is attaining the highest levels of tolerance and quality control by tapping into the magic of these elements.

This project Chevelle is just one more example of the kinds of possibilities that exist when a set of Rennen-branded wheels are brought in as a primary or finishing touch.
