My girlfriend and I heard there was a promotion on Perdomo cigars at a (very nice) local cigar shop, so I figured it was the perfect time to buy a box for my step-father as a Christmas gift. We walk into the shop and... what do you know? There stands Nick Perdomo himself. He was just finishing up a conversation with someone as we walked in the door and I immediately walked over to shake his hand.
I wish I could make this up, but along with his extremely nice suit, he had a very colorful polka-dot tie. I had a feeling he was going to have a great sense of humor and be open to conversation. He was very down-to-earth and stayed engaged in the topics we discussed, including our future move to Raleigh, NC. Turns out, he has a good friend in the area and suggested we meet up with him.
I wish I had more time to talk to him, but we had to get to dinner and RiffTrax (good stuff for those who have never seen it).
I did end up buying a box of Champagne Epicure for my step-father. Before I could walk out the door, Mr. Perdomo even offered to sign the box to wish my step-father a merry Christmas. Along with the box, I received a Perdomo cigar ashtray (it's damn good looking), a car license plate frame, and a free Perdomo Habano Connecticut cigar.
I hope I get the chance to meet up with him again. He seemed to be a genuinely great guy.
