There is little doubt that the  Mercedes -AMG  GT R  is under development, but now the German automaker has released its own “spy photos.”
In an interesting move, Mercedes-AMG sent out these photos of its heavily camouflaged  GT R testing, essentially confirming that the model is in the works and will make its debut this month at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Although the company didn’t officially say it is the GT R, the attached press release had GTR in its file name.
Regardless, spy photographers have caught the  GT R  testing numerous times in recent months and the automaker confirms that it has set a lap time at the legendary Nurburgring that is faster than the Mercedes-AMG GT S time of just over 7.30 minutes. “The time clocked by this winged  AMG GT  will be even more spectactular,” Mercedes-AMG said.

The company also included photos of the prototype testing on country roads, putting the new two-seater through its paces in everyday driving conditions. During non-track test sessions, Mercedes-AMG focused on developing highly precise  steering , finely tuned suspension and agile handling. To perfect it, the  AMG GT  R was taken to the demanding roads in the Eifel region.
The Mercedes-AMG GT R will celebrate its world premiere on June 24 at the 2016  Goodwood Festival of Speed , news that Michelin accidentally leaked with a press release before it was updated.
