Good Evening Folks,

Hope any fellow Northeast members weathered the crazy snowstorm safely, comfortably and happily.

Anyhow, chances are good the videography is already in place for GRV, but if not, I would love to see a collaboration with the guys at Format67.

I showed Race Minded some of their work and he was as blown away as the first time I saw their short films ("videos" doesn't seem to do them justice).

For those of you who have not seen their stuff before, take a look...

Needless to say, I think a Format67 GRV movie would be epic in every sense of the word. They are setting out on a world filming tour this year for a feature-length piece.

This would be awesome but it looks like they will be gone while GRV is going on.

Raw Ive talked to Daniel before. Ill shoot him a message. I think that would be a sick collaboration. Great Idea man!
Awesome, see what he has to say, I think this would be one of the more notable L4P milestones in the community's history.

Always worth a shot! Might very well be worth their while considering all the bananas cars in the same place at the same time.

I could watch these forever lol
I check their Facebook and Vimeo pages regularly for new stuff!

Just spoke to Daniel. He is going to shoot Raw and email. He sounded interested in it and said he has definitely heard of goldRush. He is also gonna do an exclusive interview with my company and release some behind the scenes and never before seen footage. Thanks for the idea Turbo!

Awesome, that's great news that you know Daniel, he has heard of goldRush and he is potentially interested in doing a project. Congrats on the exclusive interview too, that's really cool.

It was entirely my pleasure, it was just a creative vision that I had, but I'm even happier that another member knows Daniel and can actually take steps to make this happen. So in that regard, thank you!

I am seriously excited about the potential this has...

BEHIND THE LENS: FORMAT67

ITS NO SUPRISE THAT RIDICULOUS LIFESTYLE HAS A HUGE "GEAR HEAD" FOLLOWING. WE LOVE CARS JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. SO, WE GOT IN CONTACT WITH WITH ONE OF THE BEST CAR VIDEOGRAPHERS AROUND, DANIEL MICHAELIS. HE WAS KIND ENOUGH TO SHARE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT FORMAT67. SO WITHOUT FURTHER ADIEU. HERE IS AN EXCLUSIVE LOOK BEHIND THE LENS OF FORMAT67 WITH SOME BEHIND THE SCENES PHOTOS!

Tell us a little bit about Format67 and how it came to be?

Format is a collective of mainly 3 people + Freelancers. We are specialized in producing films about cars. In the past we established our own style and thats distinguishes us from other car film makers i think. Everyone of us is a car enthusiast. Format was founded in 2007.

Give a brief day in the life over at the Format67 offices?

Haha yes thats a great question. Our office is located in a small city in Germany where we were all born and raised. Usually a day in the studio starts with a trip to the supermarket in the opposite of the building. We use that to discuss the topics of the day. Currently it is frequent about our new online store. Every Wednesday there is a takeaway for fried chicken in front of the supermarket. Thats maybe the best day of the week!

Your films are beautiful and have meaning outside the automotive world. What made you want to shoot vehicles and not something different?

As a director for me the most important thing is to convey emotions. I would like to pierce the peoples hearts. Cars are my tools to achieve that.

What goes through the minds of the team at Format67, when trying to come up with a shoot or a video?

Driving in the rain at night with the music gives me the most inspiration. Thats the start of every format film.

"Fan Question" What makes you choose music for your videos? Specifically for your "Day in Tokyo" video?

In our videos the music is often produced by a sound designer. The video you talk about was shot in hong kong. The music was produced by a friend of mine. It is a cover of Radiohead's "Videotape".

Do you guys have a lot of fun on set or is it strictly business all the time?

Without fun there won't be good results. But, yes it is always a balance between fun and business. Towards the Client I carry the responsibility for the project regarding deadlines, quality and professionally.

You get to drive some of the most amazing cars. But, what cars are actually in your garages at home?

My daily driver is an S-Line Audi A5 in deep sea blue. For me this car is the best compromise. It is good looking with it's straight lines, big trunk for my equipment and it has beautiful interior. Con: no rear wheel drive but, for that i own a 95 Nissan Skyline r33 with 400hp. Its my absolute fun car. I love it.

How do you feel about your work being seen all around the globe?

It's a great motivation to see the people all over the world appreciate my work. That keeps us going on.

We are huge fans of Top Gear. What was it like seeming your work on there show?

That was just perfect. That is unique in the branche of independent filmmakers. Like you said - everybody likes top gear. Till now that was the biggest honor for us.

What was your favorite shoot?

My favorite shoot was the Nissan GT-R. We made the official European advertising for this car. It was shot in Barcelona Spain with a team of 10 people. Everyone was a specialist. Especially the producer Dany Vives was a genius. He just made everything possible. Thats a dream for every director.

What is one shoot you want to do but have not been able to yet?

In 2012 we had a meeting with Pagani for the new Huayra. In the same year we talked with McLaren about a film for the mp4-12c. Both films didn't came off. Therefor we had the chance to do films for the new Boxster and Cayman from Porsche. I believe the Huayra or the mp4-12c in front of a format camera would cut a fine figure.

What can we expect in the future from Format67?

In 2013 we are trying to visit every car hot spot in the world for a new documentary. We wan't to show whats going on in the garages of the world. The first destinations are Malaysia and Dubai. The following should be events like Gatebil in Norway or Gold Rush Rally in the United States. After that Japan, Europe and Russia.
