I just have one little question about yet another thing us Europeans don't understand about the big country in the west..
First of all, I really appreciate that whoever wins the NBA playoffs doesn't call themselves world champions like they do in other domestic sports over there, but why is the trophy handed to the owner of the team first?
It's like that in the NFL as well right?
Unfortunately, some teams insist upon calling themselves 'World Champions' when they haven't played the world (are you listening LA and Boston?). Since our first NBA title in 1999, the Spurs have always referred to themselves as NBA Champions. They have the true meaning of humility coursing through the team, no trash talk, no chest beating, no standing on the scorers table with arms wide taking credit when having just won (even though you played ineffectively). They play fundamental ball and it is exciting to watch.
