I dont see this happening anytime soon. Ferrari has been consistently profitable for Fiat. Not to mention that fiat would have to sell Maserati as well bc Maseratis are painted at the ferrari factory and use ferrari engines, designers, etc.

Wouldn't be any different than Rolls and Bentley getting split up like they did when you couldn't even tell the difference between the Corniche and the Azure.

TBH i bet Rolls fans were upset when bought by BMW but its been nothing but good for them in terms of the modernisation of Rolls Royce.

I cant see it being a bad move but Fiat must be in some kind of financial problems to sell ? Maybe if they did what alfa did and hire a BMW designer and engineers to make their post 159 cars actually work properly then they wouldnt have the reputation of "Fix It Again Today" (FIAT) and would actually sell cars.

I really have a hard time beleeving this one is going happen. FIAT is coming to the USA next year and there dollar is strong. If they are thinking about selling Ferrari they have some thing else up there sleeves.

Be clear we are not talking about Di'hatsu buying Yugo here....we are talking about the largest volume car company in the world acquiring the most prestigious marque in the business. IF that happens, and I think that is a mighty big IF, you can be sure there will be a lot things in place to maintain Ferrari's growth and development and therefore VW's new profitability. As much crap as has been talked, I have yet to see a negative in the development cycle of Lamborghini, or bugatti, or Bentley or anything else VW has control of. If they weren't good at it they would not be continuing with acquiring companies. Development money is where it is at and VW has more of it than anyone out there.

Lamborghini has been terrible. They keep trying to basically upgrade their vehicles instead of replacing them for over the past decade. Bugatti keep making special editions and in turn dropping the value of these cars ten fold. I was offered a used bugatti veyron for 800k with only 300 miles!!! Sure the big parent company is mainly the ones keeping these guys afloat. If it was only Audi that was covering for lamborghini, these guys would have sold them off long ago

I aree that lambo has not made a new car since the murcy and gallardo came out. I've been waiting to see what their new car/chassis will look like it and how successful it will be.

Look at the main thought for the P4/5 they already had the capabilities of doing such a car to begin with. You think Ferrari really wants to blow cars out of the market. Sometimes Ferrari out do themselves on their cars and end up not being able to match that same mark the next production years. However you can not say they "stole" it from the P4/5. The 458 is more related to the F40 than most of the cars in its production line. Personally I do not like the P4/5, its not my cup of tea however i respect the man who decided to go on with the project and put the project into a full working car.
