I think he meant it from a rivalry standpoint. How would their future pan out being under the same roof. Their founders were pretty much enemies and now theyre going to possibly be owned by the same company.
Exactly...

The ownership of Porsche, Bugatti, Audi and Bentley gives them different overall market segments. Ferrari would be a direct competitor for Lamborghini owned by the same company. Seems to be a bit of a conflict.

Talk about monopolizing the highend sports car market!!! Good God!!!

The good side is that neither brand would have die. Lambo sales are down? Ferrari is up and it balances out (and vice/versa)

This would also give Lambo some real F1 technology to build off of.... oh. my. God. to think of what will come of that!!
I don't think it would work that way.

Individual business units would be expected to stand on their own. If Lamborghini sales are up for a few years in a row and trending to continue that while Ferrari was trending downward, you can bet a business decision would be made to put down the struggling brand...or at least sell it off to China, India or one of the Koreas.

I dont see this happening anytime soon. Ferrari has been consistently profitable for Fiat. Not to mention that fiat would have to sell Maserati as well bc Maseratis are painted at the ferrari factory and use ferrari engines, designers, etc.
Wouldn't be any different than Rolls and Bentley getting split up like they did when you couldn't even tell the difference between the Corniche and the Azure.
