168-ish in my '05 S4. On Interstate 89 between Burlington and Stowe, Vermont. Around noon, clear summer day. If anyone knows that stretch of road, it's literally a 2.6 mile straightaway of perfect pavement with 10 foot barbed wire fences about 15 feet from each shoulder and a grass median between the north and south lanes. During the mid-day that highway is about as empty as highways get. It's just about the safest place to act wreckless besides a track.

Not saying it was the smartest thing to do, but I came into the straight kinda hot (around 85mph), saw there was not a car in sight, and went for it. Held that speed for about 5 seconds and the car felt surprisingly smooth.

200+mph in my Supra

oh and...

185 in my brothers souped up Camaro

Fastest i have ever driven - 185ish in a c6 z06, i looked down and saw 183 and stayed in it for a couple more seconds and then backed out.

I have ridden along at a gps verified 208mph in a supra tho...seriously.

12 mile runway (San Mateo Bridge), around 3AM, on the eastbound section Hayward side, '72 Pantera, headlights down.

The car is supposed to top out at 165 with the stock gearing(hey come on, this is an old car). I glanced at the needle as it passed 135 but didn't glance back back down until I had to slow down, headlights up, before passing the toll booths on the other side. The needle was already dropping below 130 when I looked so I don't know if I ever hit 165:eek:hwell:.

I was stupid, I was twelve (actuall 20) when I did this. I have been a law abiding citizen ever since. And, the only reason I changed my fifth gear was to have a better cruise rpm on overdrive .

I remember a thread about this on Supraforums a few years ago and it got comical. Lots of guys with BPU Supras talking about doing 200mph runs in their cars on a weekly basis. I found an article written about that time about the physics involved in getting a car to 200mph and the way the power requirement increases exponentially with the aerodynamic drag. I'm going by memory, so I am ballparking, but they requirement to get a Supra to 200mph was like 800hp to the wheels... without blowing your EGT's through the roof.

GSXR 750- stopped glancing down at 175 and stayed in a little bit more

99 Lightning -Modded w/speed limiter removed Buried the speedo which I think stopped at 140. Probably hit 145-150ish. Smooth as silk at speed. I miss that truck.

Super Snake run 1st through 4th with the heavy pedal down- wasn't watching the speedo- but I've seen 165 on the dyno doing a 4th gear pull. Lots of noise, lots of Revs, lots of fun. Knowing what I now know about the UP cars I should be dead.

Never done on public roads of course.
