this may seem dumb but no one i ask can answer the question with certainty.

1. What exactly does it do and can it get rid of "drone?"

2. does a exhaust resonator go before of after the muffler?

3. how many db(loud) would I be expecting to lose?

4. who do you think makes the best exhaust resonator for a 4.0L V6 with a 2.5 in/out?

5. would i also lose power and torque?

1. What exactly does "what" do? A resonator? I've been told a resonator increases drone, but not in the case of my car. No drone at fwy cruising speeds....
2. Before...usually the mid-pipe (at least thats where mine is)
3. No idea, my exhaust got a smidge quieter, but also deeper
4. Not a clue on this one....
5. Not that I know of (I have a mildly tuned 2.5L flat-four tho, so take that as you will....)

really depends what car or truck. Need to know the following before I can answer your questions.

is the drone at low rpm cruising on the fwy or at higher RPMs?

what exhaust did you install?

what size piping?

does the b-pipe have a resanator now?

what type of muffler do you have? chambered? or straight thru?

did you remove the cat?

in terms of exhaust, straight pipes would be the way to go. Removing the resonator will increase power up top but lose some in low rpms. Drone will be massive on the bottom end but up top, it will be gone. The muffler is the tip exit of the exhaust.

Car is my 2008 FJ Cruiser. It has 4 cats on it. i don't know the cell count but its factory.

The drone is normally when I'm cruising. about 2000-3200RPM. 35mph+

I cut the OEM Muffler out and welded in a Flow master Super 44 (Off road edition if that helps) i believe its chambered.

The size of piping 2.5in.

it doesn't have a resonator right now.

It sounds great n all but when im just cruising it likes to hum really loud.

there is your problem. Flowmaster. they sounds great but are notorious for low mph drones.

get a straight thru muffler, like a magnaflow/borla/corsa for example and you wont have that problem.

no need for a resonator, you have 2 pre cats and 2 cats on there.
