Hello Guys, I have been thinking about this for while now, many people tell me how Fun and Beautiful Montreal is, It's a shame I have never been there so I thought what a better way to get there than having an L4P Run /Weekend Event. I am hoping we can all coordinate to make this One great end of summer celebration Run/ get together. I am thinking we leave Friday Sep 18th @ 3AM and head back Sunday the 20th @ 1pm.
Hoping we can arrange some reservations etc and have a program to make the most out of the trip.
What do you guys think?

Cool, I thought it would be a great Idea. let's start gathering info about things to do, places to go, best roads, maybe Formula one track visit, Hotels, clubs, etc.. like a wish list and then we can make a program.

Ok guys so I PM'ed wikkedM3 and here are some of the info he provided. I have been looking up some of the places but every one here is welcome to do some reseach and maybe in a week we can have some plan.

"Shane, nice to meet you, virtually. My name is Nitin. I lived in Montreal from 1999-2005, but currently live in Napa/SF. I still have a condo in Montreal, at Les Cours, and spend a fair bit of time there. Since you have a few weeks, I will happily answer whatever questions you might have.
So, regarding those in this pm, here are a few answers:
Hotels: The key is to stay somewhere downtown. Old Montreal is nice, but as it is far away from the night life, can prove to be a pain getting home at the end of the night. (You will find the nightlife to be the best in North America, aside from Miami, as far as I am concerned). Regarding the recs, I would suggest Omni or Sofitel, or if you want a boutique try Le Germain or Opus. I like the Omni as it is above the Opus II Restaurant which I have always been fond of.

Restaurants: Cafe Ferreira, Opus II, Bice, The Keg (in Old Montreal, fairly good mainstream Canada chain), Eggspectations (good for hangover brunch), L' Entrecote, Gibby's (Montreal's most famous I would imagine), Queue De Cheval, and tons more. Let me know what kind of food your gang would like and I will work on a comprehensive list. The dining in Montreal is the best I have had anywhere in North America and being a foodie...that is saying something. There are a ton of high end fusion joints on St. Laurent that you will undoubtedly have a great meal at...Buona Notte, Cafeteria and a few others. Also hippie joints like Santropol that have great sandwiches and soups.

Bars/Clubs: You will want to stay on St. Laurent, St. Catherine and Crescent for the most part. There are a few good bars outside those areas, where you might want to ask the concierge for help. Try to bring as many women as you can, as it is tough to get into the clubs without an "in." I spent a fair amount of time partying, so I can give you the knowledge I have, but it is a changing scene. Favorites are Buona Notte, Time Supper Club, Newtown (Jacque Villeneuve's club), etc...

Parking is a pain in the ass, but if you are at a hotel, it shouldn't be a problem. On St. Laurent and Crescent there are a bunch of lots, just pay up to the attendant and you will be good. Also, I tend to frequent places with Valet so I don't have to worry about it. Montreal is a great city to be "seen" in, so if you are moving with a pack of top end highlines or the like, definitely take them out and floss

Regarding a track, only circuit I can think of is the F1, and you would need some serious pull to be able to get on it. I have driven it, but the security car was in hot pursuit Also, don't forget to check out the casino and a few of the "adult" joints. Montreal is a clean, safe version of Las Vegas with only the best of the best and no cheesy trash around! It is very hip and European...all this talk is making me think perhaps I might try to meet up with you all when you are there. At any rate, I have to get back to work, but keep the questions coming."

Thanks Nitin..

I can find out what hotel we stayed in... it was really nice! we had a nice balcony and our parking lot was across the street. Very convenient. I can ask the friends i went with, I am sure I can get an answer if you guys are seriously interested in going. It was downtown where everything is happening.

Ok guys, the key here on getting a good hotel for a good price is to book it early, and maybe we can try to push for a group discout if we know who is coming. so i am going to start a list of people that are coming. please send me a Pm with your full name and all contact information confirming that you are 100% going to make it.

At the moment, I am trying to find out from my other friends that went with me. One is here and is trying to remember and the other went to Greece and will be back early sept but just give me some time and I will research on my own too. There aren't too many hotels around there that are similar and if I look for hotels downtown Montreal, I will surely recognize it. Just plan the other stuff and leave the accommodations to me.

Having coordinated one of these runs before, before you do that, here is what needs to be done first:

1. Who wants to go?
2. What is the set date for the rally?
3. Who is 100% sure they want to go and is committed to paying a down payment for hotel (down payment = commitment)
4. Is his/Her car ready for a long trip? (are you willing to get stuck a long way from home?)
5. Does the passenger/Driver have a valid U.S. passport?
6. How much money is involved? You will get there and 1 person is always short of cash, it will suck because you will always have to downgrade the fun (strip clubs, discos, hotel, food, etc)

Unfortunately, I am not available to plan this thing but if I were, I would do the above due-diligence first. Than book the hotel. In this economy, hotels are always available, don't worry about it. Now that the summer is ending, even better.
