I'm a groomsman for my friends wedding and one of the concern he has are the suits. We have different budgets so I was wondering if different brands have different shades. He's deciding between black or grey, solid colors.

Appreciate your help!

You guys are definitely better off buying something reasonably priced than renting some junk from Men's Warehouse or wherever. Last one I rented from there cost me as much as a suit from H&M and I had to have it tailored twice because it fit like a trash bag.

Of course this isn't the highest quality, bespoke garment you can get, but it fits well, has modern style and is very reasonably priced.

Definitely go for black!

Black is black nine times out of ten. With grey you'd have much more different shades

Im the best man for my buddies wedding in August and we ended up deciding that the best option for groomsman/groom was to buy from Indochino. I have seen the quality and it is surprising for the price. Compare that to the terrible fit from renting and it seemed like a no brainer. Not to mention you get to keep it after.

What is the budget you are working with?

I am actually not a huge fan of Indochino, their price has risen 30%+ in the past two years as they've caught more traction in the market but the quality is still the same. On top of that, it's an absolutely piss-poor attempt to offer made-to-measure clothing in my opinion. The entire point of using MTM instead of going off-the-rack is that you get control over customization and fit. When you place the entire responsibility for executing on the fit in the hands of an untrained amateur measuring himself (or having a friend do it) rather than letting a competent professional handle it, you remove the entire competitive element of MTM clothing.

Everyone's next comment is always "Well they give you up to $80 in credit if you need to take it to a local tailor for alterations after it arrives!" The answer to that is simple: there are innumerable points of potential error, and if even one of them is so notably off that you need to take it to a tailor, you're guaranteed to spend more than $80. e.g. If the jacket length was wrong, that's typically a $60-100 alteration by itself.

If you give more info on your price point, I'm happy to share as much info as I can.
