both systems assist in the propulsion of the vehicle. they're both quite brilliant in their own way but in the end, it's done to increase the efficiency of operation.your friend's prius has a boost button good for 160HP?!?!?!?!?!!!!

on the exact same note, have you ever heard of a Gyrobus? It was a bus that used a flywheel to conserve/store energy, it made in the 50's.
