So the title pretty much says it all - I am looking for a used exotic for my daily driver.. I drive maybe 8 to 10k a year all city miles. I obviously want a sporty car but more than anything a car that gets attention. I have a work car that I use to drive the long distances for work so the mileage will mostly be to the gym, dinners, out and about etc..

I really want something good and reliable. Im not wanting to spend 5k a year on maintenance and more than anything do not want a car with a ton of mileage so when the valet sees it they are like oh this guy just bought a high mileage car to be a wanna be!

So my question is... 2016 Corvette, 2011-2012 Gran Turismo, Aston Martin Vantage, Bentley, Ferrari, any of those or what else is there thats the best bang for my buck and the most exotic.

Thanks!

So you literally are going through what I JUST went through -- Considering a used exotic vs. the new corvette for about 60kish budget..... the end all be all I discovered is you're not going to get any exotic with low miles, or newer model at that price. i wanted the Gran Turismo, too, but at that price, it was all first or second year models of the current body style, with 40-60k miles. I also wanted a vantage, but after reading Doug Demuro's experience on Jalopnik, I steered clear. Bentley's I've heard are reliable, but just can't justify 60k on a car from 2005ish. Ferrari is out of the question....so i went with a 2015 Corvette....here is how she sits after about 2 weeks of ownership, and i must say i'm extremely impressed with this car.

Car looks awesome!! There are tons of GranTurismos out there in the 60 to 65 price range. 2011 or 2012 with about 15 to 25k miles. Some MC's too

Why did u pick the vette over that?

Easy. It's a car with close to zero miles and a full warranty and cheaper market for modifications to make it stand out and look more exotic. It's really a great bang for your buck car. Here's a couple of styles. Personally, I like that black with red ADV1 combo on the Z06. It's mean.

Ha ha been there done that looking for something a little less exotic with big bang for the buck to drive to work, etc. Tried several cars, and the Vantage V8 was the best looking to me but also the least impressive for performance (I kept thinking where's the beef!). I assume the V12 would be better, but then maybe out of your price range. Then one day I drove an MBZ SL with RENNtech upgrades and I was immediately sold. Just a stock SL gets in the 0 - 60 in the 3s, and with RENNtech it gets even better. For a SL65 R230 you would get 700 HP / 900 TQ with RENNtech. I swear it is slightly faster than my LP640, or pretty damn close. Only downside is that it is automatic, and to some may not seem like a true "exotic" But put some nice ADV.1 on there and lower it, and you get thumbs up all day. For me it was the perfect commuter car in Orange County CA, since an automatic in stop & go traffic made riding very fun. I was so impressed with the monster performance that I ended up with two of them and just drove them alternating with my other cars to work. Now retired I don't have the commute anymore, but I enjoy putting the roof down with one button and cruising PCH. No major problems with my SLs either yet, just excellent performers for me and some minor stuff. I would suggest just looking and driving your selections and see what you like.

Yes i've driven exotics and owned a z06 corvette previously... While I loved the corvette it just doesnt scream exotic.. I am even considering a 2 year old quattroporte but if you guys say the vette is the way to go then thats what ill go for... is it really that good of a choice over anything else? what about the interior? As a previous z06 over the vette got tons of looks and was a blast to drive, I am now at the age where I want something fun to drive but I dont need the fastest car on the road... is saying you own a vette as big of a panty dropper as saying you own a maserati nowadays??

I don't think either is a panty dropper...Lambo or fcar, maybe.
Never considered Corvette an exotic? Too many on the road.

You can get an 08 Bentley in the 60's. Mas is a bit unreliable and under the shadow of Ferrari. Stretch to $70k and hop into a 360.

Definitely not. Used r8's depending upon mileage, year, etc. are 100k and up, especially if you want a newer one with a warranty.

It depends on what you are more focused on when it comes to buying your next car. If it is the money then by all means go with the corvette. I think corvettes are great cars, I am a huge fan of the ZR1, but they will not do the job as far as dropping PANTIES for these two reasons... maybe even more. 1. ANYONE CAN AFFORD A CORVETTE NOWADAYS. 2. MID LIFE CRISES GUYS ONLY BY CORVETTES. the second reason is what most of society thinks when they see a person driving a corvette. Including the ones who are looking to have there PANTIES dropped.

Now if you are focused on something fun to drive and a PANTY dropper on top of that! you need to spend $20 to 25k more on a different car (Aston Martin, Maserati, Lamborghini, Ferrari) now you may need to spend about $60k more on a Ferrari. prices are starting to go up on those cars.

Aston Martins.
These are great cars especially the v8 vantage, TIMELESS ELEGANCE! this is a really fun car to drive and they will get a lot of attention from the LADIES. don't believe me? watch the James Bond movies and check for yourself. The ugliest person in the world could be in a nice tuxedo, driving this car and get some attention.

Maserati.
these cars are also great for attention, BEST EXHUAST NOTE I HAVE HEARD FROM A V8! but it is not a Ferrari and those cars speak for themselves, hence the reason why values are rising on the Pre-Owned models such as the F430.

I work for a Premier Auto Group that heavily specilzes in selling Luxury and exotic cars new and Pre-owned, so tell what you want and I will find it for you.

Message me for more info.

It's sad that you care what people think about you. I had a C6 Vette when I was 22. Five years later now when I just turned 27 I have a red C6 Z06. It's no $60k car, but it's low, aerodynamic, looks aggressive and is holyshit fast. No new car excise tax and I can roll around with my friends and their 600HP+ supercars. You buy the car for yourself, not to please others.

About the $60k bracket - my friend just bought a brand new red C7 (also reason I got my C6Z). I drove that thing from Boston to NYC, through Times Sq and back to Boston. I can't count how many times people took a picture of it or yelled to rev it up. It's super comfortable and I would say as good of a daily driver as a GTR would be.

Thanks for all the good info... Im thinking either a Quattroporte or C7 now... Any input between the 2?

Unless you want a daily driver that you can take to the track on the weekends go with the Maserati. Don't get me wrong--The C7 is sick and is as exotic as you can get in comparison to previous Vette models. The prevailing factor here, at least with me, is the fact that every time I've gone to buy another car I always looked at a Vette and walked away short-changed because I'm a man that leads a complicated life.

It would be nice to wisk away down the highway with only a briefcase and a cup of coffee but at any point in time I may want to pick up a life-sized vase or some kind of lawn equipment or diving gear or whatever large item that one obviously can't handle in a Vette. I also take long, long trips from time-to-time and a Vette just won't do it. You're only going to be able to lean back so far in a two-seater. As far as everyday driving goes you're going to get the same kind of performance from a Quattroporte as you will a Vette but you'll be more comfortable and stylish with the Quattroporte.

The image factor: If you're looking to get fanboys to give you the thumbs up, then drive a Vette. If you want to get the respect of businessmen, then get a Maserati. You're going to get an entirely different conversation at the cigar shop if you drive up in a Maserati than if you drive up in a Vette. People will take you more seriously in a Maserati. However, if you drive up in a Vette you're going to be labeled as someone that's looking for a party 24-7.

The panty-dropper factor:

If you want to pick up chicks like this, then get a Vette.

If you want to pick up a woman like this, then get a Maserati.

Any Questions?

The OP's original post is clear that what people, including valets, think matters to him. Since it matters to him, it is reasonable to provide feedback as to what message the different cars send. Only he can assess how much weight to put onto this aspect in making the decision.

My post was for the original poster. He seems to be concerned about image, so I gave him advice to that effect. Personally, I don't give a damn what anyone thinks and I've had my fun with scores of women no matter what kind of car I owned. If I cared about what other people thought of me I'd be driving a 911 right now or any other kind of go-to sports car instead of an X5 4.8i. As I said earlier, I'm a complicated man--I've always chosen roomy cars over 2-seaters. I don't want to have to go all the way back home to get another vehicle in order to get the job done.
