Audi Leaks the R8 Spyder Accidentally on Purpose

Jump to Latest

If you’d like a secret to stay that way – a secret – don’t tell the people at Audi.

After all, they aren’t afraid to test the new 2017 Audi R8 Spyder on public streets, not bothering to camouflage or leave some intrigue leading to its release.

But its here now, and from what we can tell, the drop-top exotic will use the same platform and powertrains as the 2016 Audi R8 coupe. The Spyder is expected to launch sometime in May, alongside the new TT RS coupe.

A 5.2-liter V10 with 540 horsepower is what’ll likely be standard for the Spyder; the Plus model will add 60~hp.
