Aston Martin has been spotted testing its new racey Vantage GTE ahead of the car's expected entry into the FIA's World Endurance Championship next year.

It's believed the new Vantage will make use of a turbocharged AMG V8, similar to the production car which shares a motor with the AMG GT S. According to SportsCar365 , there will also be a GT3-spec version which will debut sometime in 2019 following the launch of the road car and the GTE-spec car.

Aston's newest race car must be nearing final homologation, as all the new or newly modified GTE cars hoping to compete in 2018 must make an appearance at the FIA's Balance of Performance test at Michelin's proving grounds in Ladoux, France.
