Depends on where you are. Where I am you need to licensed.
Here when you apply for an owner builder permit it still has to get inspected every step of the way.

Agreed! I'm in the plumbing industry here in Australia and it wouldn't be hard for someone to seriously f up if you don't know what you're doing.
Thats why I recommend people use PEX, less likely to burn your house down and correct mistakes :)

PEX is the future, you still need copper for outdoor applications but underneath joists and walls PEX is the way to go. Plus those manifolds make everything easy especially if you got the $ to use shark bite fittings. This project I will be using 98% PEX.

Sharkbite is still new in Aus, I'm not a fan of it, yet. We're in maintenance a lot and I reckon that it might be a bit of an issue in years to come.

I basically tore down more plaster and lathe, I'll take some more tomorrow.
