will be interesting to see what they do with it..... clearly they cannot keep operating it as it has been, as that apparently did not turn a profit... so what will they do to make it profitable?
try to hold new races there?
increase the cost for the open traffic days?
increase the cost of private track rental for manufacturers / magazines?
unfortunately those might mean that less new cars end up getting tested on the ring...
or maybe the opposite, maybe they will reduce the open public traffic days and try to sell more time to manufacturers?

The interest definitely lies in Nordschleife and the GP Circuit, which is the main courses of Nurburgring, but, like TheRoadWarrior said, clearly operations will need to be changed in order to keep the whole thing above ground.

Luckily for Nordschleife, manufacturers love to boast their lap times in order to prove their car is best. Also, many manufacturers have test facilities located in the area which should keep the manufacturers track activity relatively constant, but that depends on the new owners showing respect to the manufacturers and keeping them engaged. Furthermore, if manufacturers are continuing to run Nordschleife, than so will the public, for the most part.
I think it is everything else that Nurburgring has to offer that is holding the facility back: hotels, recreational offroad training, SUV training, Ring casino, etc. Perhaps limiting or even eliminating these less attracted services could help the budget.

I think they need to increase the amount of attractions there, but not on their dollar. I can see this becoming a resort type attraction. Add hotels, restaurants, gift shops, museums, and make it more of a motorsports park/resort than it already is. A destination resort and increase the amount of traffic from the public. Performance driving school, manufacturer european delivery events, increased track car rentals, etc.

I can also see more professional races being held there and becoming part of a race season for many different classes.

I personally think this is a great investment in Germany which could have far reaching benefits throughout the rest of the region. The first action of course should be to implement a responsible, safe speed limit. Have you seen how fast some guys are careening around some of those sweepers and blind corners? It's supposed to be a nice countryside roadway through the forests of Germany, not some madman's "race course". Some guys actually try to set records around the 'track'... insanity.

As the Europeans see the error of their not having set a speed limit sooner, perhaps the road could see further commercial investment. I guess there's an old roller coaster somewhere in there? Get that running again. Drive traffic and expand. I'm sure McDonald's has been chomping at the bit to get a franchise in there. It could be a destination! "I visited Nordschleife and all I got was this shirt" tees for the family.

Looking forward to turning that place around.
