try flyertalk.com/forums for good travel information. there's a guy in the hotel forum who has friends/family discount for the plaza hotel.

flights are a lot trickier to finagle unless the airlines puts them out themselves

Helps if you have a flight attendant somewhere in your circle - a good friend's sister is a Continental stewardess and she gets xx amount of half-priced fares to use per year etc.
