probably the dumbest thing I've ever seen, have they not watch Dubai self destruct over the past 2 years, when will people realize that spending this kind of money does no good in the long run

they say it's going to bring 2.5b in annually, but they are going to make everything overpriced to the point that no one will move in and thus not spend any money

plus isn't Miami in the shitter right now in terms of real estate

most HUGE scale development projects don't even take the current state of economy into account... all plans are for the looong term. considering the fact that a huge skyscraper project would take at least a couple years to even be completed... starting now as things have possibly hit the apogee, and will be on the upswing, would yield the best results once the structure is built... which will then hopefully coincide with when people are ready to blow money out the wazoo again. there's a number of HUGE developments going on in china and vietnam right now that have budgets that dwarf even this, and the anticipation is for completion in time to rake in all the money after this "recession" is over. Of course, it does help that those countries are in way better economic shape than the US to begin with......
