How good are they with mileage, say 50k plus.

Im looking @ either an 03+ E55 or CL55.

Just trying to get an idea, if there is anything I should be looking for, or trying to avoid.

thanks in advance.

It can handle a shit load of power..you will need to reinforce the rear end though once you get the torque numbers over 700 and hp in the 600's (LSD diff, toe-links, sway bars, etc)

If you are a power junky you can have a lot of fun with this car. Pulley, tune, and some cooling mods and you're already rear end happy :D

Yes, I have seen some heavily modified MB V8's here and in Germany.

They can really handle a lot of mods w/o a problem. Def. belongs to one of the engines that are fun to modify.....

A well modified nazi-sled can never be enough fun. The power is addicting. Buy the car, mod it, drive the shit out it, repeat.

^There is a lot of truth to that.

While the drivetrain may be bulletproof for the most part, if anything breaks on the car it almost always ends up costing a couple grand to fix. If you paid $100K+ for it brand new, no biggie. But if you're dropping somewhere in the 20s for one on the used market, you can easily spend as much on the mods / fixing little things as you would on the car itself.

Honestly, all the people I know that had that engine, never had any engine related catastrophic issues, thats just my eyperience

The worst part of those engines is the excessive tire wear they cause ;)
