2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid Announced with 455 HP

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid has been revealed and it’s more powerful, quicker, faster, and has more electric range than its predecessor.

Replacing the Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid, the 2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine paired to an electric motor. It’s the same gasoline engine found in the normal Cayenne, but thanks to the electric motor, the powertrain has a total system output of 455 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, while paired to an eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission.

All of it results in a zero-to-60 mph time of 4.7 seconds, which is 0.7 seconds quicker than the previous-generation model. Top speed is set to 157 mph, which is 6 mph higher than its predecessor. In addition, the hybrid SUV now comes standard with the Sport Chrono Package, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), and Auxiliary Cabin Conditioning.

The 2019 model also marks the first time any Porsche vehicle offers 22-inch wheels straight from the factory. New features also available include massaging seats, a heated windshield, and a head-up display. Like other electrified Porsche models, the Cayenne E-Hybrid features Acid Green brake calipers and matching outlines around the badges.

Power is stored in a 14.1-kWh battery pack found in the rear of the chassis, beneath the load floor. On electric power alone, the Cayenne E-Hybrid is capable of traveling up to 83 mph and up to 27 miles (44 kilometers), but that’s on the generous NEDC cycle. EPA fuel economy figures and electric range will be announced at a later time.

Porsche InnoDrive will also be available on the 2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid, technology that is “a step beyond adaptive cruise control.” Porsche says the system combines already existing traffic sensing systems with onboard map data, allowing the vehicle to “look” 1.8 miles ahead. This allows it to select gearing intelligently, while computing when best to coast and the best balance between the gasoline and electric portions of the powertrain.

The 2019 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid will arrive dealerships in the U.S. in early 2019 with a starting price of $80,950 including destination.
