Land Rover is renowned for offering their SUVs with the highest class of luxury possible crossed with unheard of performance figures. For a week, we had the opportunity to explore their spearhead vehicle, the 2014 Range Rover Autobiography, and see exactly what the high-end SUV had to offer. It goes without saying that we were incredibly impressed.
The Autobiography is the fully loaded version of the Range Rover. Its powerful stance is created through an exterior chrome trim, on top of 21” alloy wheels. The Rover delivered to us was in a beautiful Luxor color with brogue semi-aniline leather interior. What is even more impressive is the fact that the Autobiography is not only the most luxurious of Land Rover’s line up, but also the most powerful.
The King of SUVs boasts a 5.0-Liter supercharged V8 producing 461 lbs-ft of torque and 510 hp to all four wheels. Power is transferred through an electronically controlled eight-speed transmission via paddle shifters, and control is boosted with different driving modes that can be changed with switches inside the cabin. While it may be one of Land Rover’s largest vehicles available, the Range Rover still launches you from 0-60 mph in just seven seconds. Seem slow? Consider the weight behind the vehicle, and I will say it felt much quicker when the paddle shifters were active.

Land Rover prides itself on its suspension systems with advanced electronic air and electronic load leveling. Their vehicles ride on four independent, airbag sprung suspension units and offer a mode for almost any terrain. If the road in front of you is constantly changing, set the terrain mode to “Auto” and have it feel the road and change accordingly for you. You can also lift and lower the vehicle using a switch inside, making the way this SUV drives more dynamic and completely under your control.
Also inside of the Autobiography were luxurious seats loaded with massagers, a cooling system and heat. The dash is fully functional and boasted a 12.3-inch Thin Film Transistor Screen with Virtual Instruments surrounding it. Passengers in the rear were also gifted with fully adjustable power seats and their own personal climate control.
Such innovative technology is patented by the British company and currently dominates the competing vehicles within its market. Having the opportunity to explore the highest ranked vehicle in the company’s line up was exciting, and an absolute delight to travel in. Get to your local Land Rover dealer now to experience the luxury and performance yourself.
