Areas to live in Phoenix

Hey Guys, I just graduated from the University of Arizona and so I am planning to move to Phoenix in August. I am looking for somewhere nice to live, that won't break the bank.

It terms of particulars on what I am looking for, I know that I do not want to be in the immediate vicinity of college students. I've graduated, and I could go without being surrounded by too many drunken students. Ideally, I would like to find a place that is pet friendly since I am currently researching breeders to purchase a french bulldog from. Obviously, a good clean community is important, as I don't want to have to worry about people possibly damaging my vehicles.

Any suggestions?

I will give those a try. Any thoughts on Scottsdale? Any particular places that you've had positive experiences with?

Just moved from AZ after graduating from ASU. I've lived in Tempe, and South Scottsdale. If you are trying to stay away from the college atmosphere I would say Gilbert Chandler area I have a friend who just bought a house in Chandler and loves it a lot of very new areas and if you still get the urge to rage its a quick trip up the 101 north to hit Tempe Mill Ave or Old Town Scottsdale clubs

This. The Chandler/Gilbert area is great because of how close it is to the 101. I live in Chandler Right by the 101 and I can get up to the part of Mill ave with all the bars in about 15 mins. Plus there are a lot of nice, new houses in chandler and because of the current economy they can be picked up pretty cheap if you are looking to buy.

Great info guys. I am going to make a trip to look at some places next week, I will probably start in Gilbert and then give Chandler a look.

Right now I am just looking for an apartment since the move was kind of last minute. I will definitely start looking into purchasing a home though!

None-the-less, I am very excited to make the move out of Tucson!!!

haha, I bet! Tucson is borring.

I used to live in Gilbert and it was perfect distance from everywhere (campus, shops, places to get wasted) etc. And it was quiet enough to relax when I wanted to, since Tempe is always packed and Scottsdale is a bit expensive.

Of course every area has its good parts and its flaws, but I'd say that Gilbert is the golden middle.

Yea, Tucson was good for school but now that I am finished, it is time to upgrade!

Great, please let me know if you do!

I'd like to speak to you a bit about your french bulldog. I have been researching them and from what I've seen, they're very prone to allergies, and other health issues. From what I've gathered, vet bills can get expensive quickly if you don't purchase one from a reputable breeder (at a cost of $2000-3000). Any insight would be appreciated!

Depends on what kind of prices you want to spend. But Glendale has some nice new apartments, but i would say make sure and check where they are, as some are built right on the border of not so nice areas. Gilbert has some really nice areas, Chandler also has some nice areas, Mesa is more of an older area, but if you travel out east more they have some nice places, not as congested, but also a little further from things. Ahwatukee has some really nice areas, but you are going to pay a premium. Around the airport there are some nice apartments, but again make sure and check the area as there are some bad areas around there. If you needed a house to rent me and my partner have one up for rent right now, it is down in Queen Creek which tends to be a little to far for people. But if interested let me know. Or when you are ready to buy let me know also as we are always dealing with houses, we own investments businesses. Either way best of luck on the search, and glad to see more L4P members in the Metro area, we really need to get a meet together!!

^^^^Way to far away from everything thats fun. That freight train passes right through the city, which is super annoying, especially at night. Its kinda ghetto and you have MCSO around every corner just waiting for you.

Yeah, Gilbert would be your best bet. Some places in Mesa are quite nice, and. Chandler is right between the niceness of Gilbert, while still being a bit more centrally located. Awatukee is also quite nice in the foothills areas. I personally would aim for the east valley over the west valley. I've just had to look for places and I'm now moving into Chandler near the I10 and right on the Tempe border. Nice spot around here. Let us know how things work out for you or if you need any more help.

Pretty much what everyone else said. Gilbert is a great area and where I currently live, only about a 15 minute drive to mill ave(Tempe).

If you need help looking for homes in the Scottsdale area, PM me I know a good realtor. I'm looking to move Into Scottsdale within the next 1-3 years simply because I work up that way 6-7 days a week and spend most of my time now in scottsdale
