Default Any excellent restaurants in Chicago?

Going to be in Chicago (not sure what part) for work in July.
On that note, also the Hamptons, and New York!

Just wondering if there are any excellent restaurants which people recommend? Local knowledge is incredibly valuable!

    Cheers in advance.

MK/Katsu for set-menu in Chicago. Don't know much about NYC.

I've heard Alinea and Frontera Grill are good. Unfortunately two of the really fine restaurants of which I know have closed over the past few years, so all the places to which I go are in the northern suburbs and aren't 'hot' destination places.

My parents have mentioned Gibson's and Morton's Steakhouses as well I think.

    Best. Pizza. Ever.
    Op: skip breakfast and lunch.
Glad I made the road trip to Chi-town last summer to see my extended family.
