Default Marinus - Chef's Tasting Menu - Carmel, CA

I thought the meal definitely had its perks but overall I was not impressed by price versus quality ... I don't know if I'd go back, but the Lobster Pasta was excellent

Wow, I need to find a place like that locally.
It is vital that we work to a few golden rules. Always work in a small team. Keep a very low profile. Only deal with people who come recommended. And it's like selling anything else: washing machines, hand made shoes, blowjobs. As long as you don't take the piss people will always come back for more. And that is not to say we don't have that special kind of magic that makes two kilos into three. But never be too greedy.

hmm I think it was something like 7 or 8 ... and it turned out to be $360ish with tax and tip for two so i'm guessing around $160/person?

bCaHnIaCnKa - your meal doesn't look the best. i think the best time to might be spring or summer.

why? the chef is absolutely fanatical about local ingredients. i read he has an open-door policy where nearby residents will bring him their best stuff - foraged mushrooms, cheeses, tomatoes, etc. he also has his own garden w/ all sorts of rare vegetables and fruit.

compare your meal to mine: from ChuckEats blog Marinus at Bernardus Lodge (Carmel Valley, CA) - California Cuisine

(and more pics in the blog link above)

but i've got to say - you've been on a tear! good thing the female asian genes keep you skinny
