The major city in Nevada,The enormous resort hotels lining the famous "Strip," with their luminous lights, fountains, and recreated fascinating sites from cities around the globe, offer a fun and exhilarating retreat from the waste landscape.

Some great Vegas tips here - including how not to get scammed by the taxi drivers!

Ye that sounds like something more suitable to what we are after, only question is (by default) dinner would be no later then say 9pm, so what after that? does the restaurant just turn into a lounge atmosphere till midnight? or are these dinner packages only good till upto 9-10 then you get booted out and need to find another party?

have not done much research into these events as yet

Vegas is great for New Years as long as you don't go to the big clubs. I'd suggest doing a dinner and champagne package at one of the classy restaurants in the Wynn, Encore or Cosmopolitan. STK in the Cosmo is always beautiful and hold great New Years events... Best of luck!

Hey guys, looking for some local knowledge about new years in Vegas.

Me and the misses are going to be there to celebrate the new year, and where originally planning on doing the bridge bash at new york new york, however i do not think that is happening this year because of renovations..??

We are staying in Paris, so started looking at the Chateau nightclub new years event, as they have a good looking rooftop bar and views of the strip, however after reading a lot of trip advisor reviews, 10/10 of the reviews about New years said avoid at all costs :s

Can anybody recommend a good event to ring in the new year? we are not really interested in a 'club' per say, a nice bar that lets us see the strip and fireworks would be more then enough!

I like the sound of the Dal Torro at the Palazzo, dining next to a Lamborghini museum, and a patio on the strip, however need to do abit more research

    any suggestions/experience would be great!

For a self car wash, I like to use the 'Terrible Herbst' station wash bays, the one I use is about 15 minutes away from the strip to the South East on Warm Springs & Eastern, however I am sure there is a closer one than that to the strip. Have fun on your trip out here to the great LV.

Just visited there a few weeks ago and stayed 5 nights (was in the USA for 4 weeks from Australia). Amazing place and I tried the free upgrade line at the MGM Grand (no $20 sandwich) and was told there there was nothing available (was the night after the Conelo vs Mayweather fight so go figure) but was upgraded to a bigger room that I had booked overlooking the strip (tipped the check in staff accordingly). Attended 3 shows/shopping with my girlfriend and also got into the MGM grand wet republic pool party for free (hotel guests get in free before 12pm apparently). Put some photos up from my trip here: Sam Betten - Professional Triathlete: USA vacation: Part 2 Vegas Baby!

Some friends and I are heading down to Vegas 2nd week in October.
I was there once before, but it was more of a family trip. This time its with the boys.
Wondering if anyone can recommend some where to stay? We were thinking about staying at Mandalay Bay.
What are the clubs to hit these days? I've heard nothing but good things about Liquid.
What are some things to keep ourselves busy at? We plan on hitting the Speedway, renting some exotics (cars), golf and hitting the clubs.
    Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Plenty of good places to stay on the strip. Cosmopolitan is an excellent hotel. MGM has had a renovation and is decent these days.

Clubs wise - I'd say Marquee and XS are the best right now. Surrender is not too bad either. I went to Hakkasan (the new club at MGM) and really didn't rate it - way too crowded and a serious lack of babes. A good website for all the club info in LV is Jack Colton.

Activities - some of the pools may still be open depending on how early you go in October. Otherwise good activities are golf, shooting at the range, helicopter rides, shopping at the outlets etc etc

Also, it's worth trying the '$20 sandwich' when you check in to your hotel - good chance of getting an upgrade!
