Curious if any of you guys use skin care products besides shaving related goods. There's a lot of male-oriented products by companies like Baxter of California, Jack Black and Lab Series on the market. Personally I only use Origins' A Perfect World White Tea Skin Giardian which I originally bought as part of a package for my girlfriend. It leaves skin very smooth and moist and I recommend it especially to anyone who is in the sun a lot. Otherwise, I ignore this metrosexual genre but wonder what anyone else uses and likes.

I went through this whole thread and got a general idea of what to try...but I have a few more specific questions that I was hoping you guys could help me out with.

My main goal for my facial skin care is to slow down the aging process and keep my skin looking young and vibrant. I am currently 31, and notice I do have wrinkles on my forehead when I frown. Can you guys recommend any products that help tighten and moisturize the skin? Up until now I've just tried a few cheap products (L'oreal Vita Lift 5 and Nivea Q10) Perhaps I should try Kiehl's? Any other suggestions?

I use glo therapeutics. The people at the spa said that over the counter products you can buy in the store are generally not very high quality (if that's really true I don't know).

I use the moisturizer and cleanser. So far it seems to work.

Wrong. Being in the industry, along with my father being in the industry for many years, you need to take care of your skin. Yes, eating right is a major portion of keeping your skin clear, but the sun will eventually wreak havoc over the years if you don't keep protected. Anti-aging is crucial at any age.

The woman at the spa told me to wear sunscreen everyday....pretty much for the rest of my life to prevent aging/wrinkles . Is this true??..does anyone else do that? Seems a bit drastic.

You don't need to wear sunscreen. That is a bit extreme. Every morning before you leave the house, like after you shave or whatever, just as part of your morning routine, you should use a moisturizer with at least SPF 15. This will drastically protect your skin and in the long run, in will guard against sun damage and wrinkles.

Sunscreen (also commonly known as sunblock, sun tan lotion, sun screen, sunburn cream or block out)[1] is a lotion, spray, gel or other topical product that absorbs or reflects some of the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation on the skin exposed to sunlight and thus helps protect against sunburn. Skin-lightening products have sunscreen to protect lightened skin because light skin is more susceptible to sun damage than darker skin. A number of sunscreens have tanning powder to help the skin to darken or tan; however, tanning powder does not provide protection from UV rays.
Sunscreens contain one or more of the following ingredients:
Organic chemical compounds that absorb ultraviolet light.
Inorganic particulates that reflect, scatter, and absorb UV light (such as titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, or a combination of both).
Organic particulates that mostly absorb light like organic chemical compounds, but contain multiple chromophores, may reflect and scatter a fraction of light like inorganic particulates, and behave differently in formulations than organic chemical compounds. An example is Tinosorb M. Since the UV-attenuating efficacy depends strongly on particle size, the material is micronised to particle sizes below 200 nm. The mode of action of this photostable filter system is governed to about 90% by absorption and 10% by scattering of UV light.
Depending on the mode of action sunscreens can be classified into physical sunscreens (i.e., those that reflect the sunlight) or chemical sunscreens (i.e., those that absorb the UV light).[2]
Medical organizations such as the American Cancer Society recommend the use of sunscreen because it aids in the prevention of developing squamous cell carcinomas and basal-cell carcinomas.[3] However, the use of sunscreens is controversial for various reasons. Many sunscreens do not block UVA radiation, which does not cause sunburn but can increase the rate of melanoma, another kind of skin cancer, and photodermatitis, so people using sunscreens may be exposed to high UVA levels without realizing it. [4] The use of broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreens can address this concern.
Although sunscreen is sometimes called "suntan lotion", the latter is different in that it is used to intensify UV rays whereas the former is used to block UV rays.

Even though your skin may look ok on the surface, damage is done that is invisible to the naked eye:

What monstrosity? Sunscreen? The pic I posted shows the "invisible" damage your skin suffers from not using it. They used a special camera to capture the damage to her face.
Almost all men's skin care lines have SPF formulas, it's not a chick thing exclusively.

If you prefer being wrinkly and having crow's feet around your eye, that's your prerogative.

Wow there is a lot I don't know about skin care - serums that cost like 100 bucks - where do you even use that stuff.

it's kind of funny that i don't know shit about it since my mom worked for a dermatologist for like 20 years and always used to destroy with me questions when I was leaving for the lake.

Like yep got my beer and wakeboard thats all i need.

Serums shouldn't coust that much. Some do but being in the industry it is all marketing. When designing the game day line our goal was to provide the highest quality products that you can buy. I just don't see the need to price in excess of $100. It really limits you marketshare and there is just no way any company right now, especially being in the industry and co-founder and CEO of Game Day and knowing what does on, can maximize profits at that price. They are just catering to a niche market. Our aftershave serum/ balm (technically a serum based on industry) is $24 and if you can actually bring me/ show me a better quality product at any price point I would be impressed. My dad/partner is one of the most respected doctors in his field (facial aesthetics) and I can tell you it is all marketing. Just do proper research and you will be fine. I will tell you the most important parts of skincare are daily cleansing, exfoliating 3 times per week and using a moisturizer daily. An aftershave serum is excellent for post-shave to be sure that you are taking proper anti-aging care for your skin. Feel free to message me for any questions about proper skincare.

The only problem I ever have with my skin is post-close-shave ingrown hairs. I can't find anything that really prevents them.
A very cold water rinse usually helps a lot.

I used a tinted moister and its amazing. make my skin look great. I am very self conscious about my skin as I had crap skin growing up. but with chemical peels and juvederm injections it looks amazing.

the tinted moister has 35 SPF built. its almost like foundation (no ****)

no one has ever noticed or called me out (for those guys worried)

Lab Series BB Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 35 1.7 fl oz

I also take fish oil, a skin supplement and use a clearsonic brush too. skin is huge for me since again had bad skin while my brother had flawless skin

Would anyone have a suggestions for dry / cracked skin?
I have eczema and Summers get pretty brutal on my hands and elbows.
I have tried almost everything under the sun and can't find anything to combat it.

I'm not going to a dermatologist and spending $700 for some lotion I can more then likely get at some store for $20-$30

IMO Theraplex is the best lotion out there.

Organic Castile peppermint soap. Gets you cleaner than anything else on the market. Perfect for bathing especially in the summertime. Gives you that super cool feeling. The peppermint is quite potent, so be careful around the eyes. Also has a great aromatherapy effect. You can clean ANYTHING with this soap. It even works in the washing machine. Clothes smell better than if you used laundry detergent. You really don't realize how great this soap works until you go back to whatever you were using before and you realize how DRY you skin is after using. After using this soap I refuse to put anything else on my skin. I buy it by the gallons.

Exfoliating gloves. Use these instead of a face cloth (unless your skin is already irritated) and in the shower.
Works wonders to keep the skin smooth and clear of acne.

Thanks for this.

You're using too much at full strength. The directions on the labeling advises to dilute as necessary. My wife has extremely sensitive skin--she has her Dermatologist on speed dial and prefers Castile over everything else on the market. If she can use it anyone can.
