Well just picked up a brand new home and need to furnish it and figured I cant use my 4 yr old 50inch plasma so I was at best buy and somhow got the manager to make a deal . Initially inteded on getting a 65inch the biggest but somhow ended up purchasing a 80inch Sharp Led TV . It was too big to fit in the truck so I have to have it delivered . Will post pics once I get it and installed , I dont know anyone personally with a TV that big to compare anything< anyone here have one or bigger would love to see pics >
, so well see once it gets here , going to cost me around $500 to get it installed over the fireplace mantle , the mount for it was couple hundred bucks .. still need some type of surround sound

Funny I was just looking at these at Best Buy tonight. I saw they had 2 sharps. One a 120hz and the other was the 240hz 3d. The first one was 3k and the other I believe 4k. What did you pick yours up for if you dont mind me asking? I have a big wall and am thinking of doing an 80 as well.

I ended up getting it clearenced at 2432 minus 100 bucks + tax and the 4 yr protection plan and the mount still came out to around 3 grand after said and done with . mine didnt have the 240hz 3d and they told me they couldnt get it in either cuz I kind of wanted that one . then after sitting I thought to my self I have yet to watch any 3d movies so do I really need a 3d tv lol
You also become a silver member or get that kind of status , which supposedly puts you in the top tier with geeksquad , on a 2500 or more purchase , they calibrate it for you and dunno really what else but the manager gave me some run down .

I did check that out , but as per what my brother told me through his experience , the manufacture warrenty is supposedly like this , if your tv breaks and they come out and fix it , if it happens again they will try to fix it again , whereas with best buys warrenty , if they come out once to fix it , if it happens again they automatically replace the tv , and if just 3 pixels burn out they automatically replace the tv , and if they cant get you same one they give you the credit not what you paid but for the $5000 price it retails for so it seemed for couple hundred bucks more like a better deal . my model is the non 3d version and some people love it and others hate it on reviews Ive seen but I get a 60day unconditional return so well see how it pans out

I got the 60" led 240hz 3d and I love it! I wouldn't take a 80" with only 120hz...

Well from what I have learned so far difference between 120 and 240 is only a software difference and not hardware and I'm not that big of a tech to probably even know the difference without someone showing me , and on sharp forums seems as though ppl turn off the 240 feature but I'm coming from a 50 inch 720p Samsung plasma last 4 yrs so I'm sure ill be able to live with this

Tv delivers Friday so well see worst case ill return if I'm not satisfied

I'm installing over the fireplace mantle , mantle measure 84 inches walls measures 94 and the tv is 83.? Inches so its gonna take up whole wall

Sub'd for pics and your review of this thing. Def looking to upgrade from our 65" DLP next year when we get a new place.

update* no pics just yet

The Tv got delivered last night , havnt had chance todo anything with it , the installer who was supposed to put it up I guess got turned off by the fact that I have to run a couple 50 ft hdmi's across the house to conceal the box and run multiple electrical outputs 1 behind the fireplace and 1 inside a closet that are 30 ft apart , hard to find somone who does this on the weekends so im buying my own wires and got a electrician buddy coming tomorrow morning , hopefully by tomorrow night it will be up and running ..
Ive had a couple ppl come quote the install and the lowest was $550 plus the cost of the 50ft hdmi cables which ive seen run from $50 to $200+ each. I had one dude come in and quote me $350 but when he mentioned running extension cords , that was where he got told thanks very much for coming ..

The tv will be sitting pretty high , the mantle is at 65 inchs and tv will be mounted about 6 inches higher then that , at the height I think it will need to be tilted to the max allowance or else it will be like we are looking up to the ceiling to watch tv lol .

other then installation my only other issue at moment is that by concealing the box in the closet , i just got the RF remote to be able to change channels through the walls , but my DVD player isnt RF capable only IR so I have to either buy one that is or just hook up existing one for now and have to walk up to the closet everytime I want to fast forward or press play . I guess I will just run the wiring for now and well see about the extra components . We dont watch much dvd due to online streaming and what not ,
I was also advised to run a cat5 and run the tv directly hardwired to the modem , but that would consist of having to move the modem and rewire a patch for the internet to run to the closet so well see how this works out
Man so much for just buying the damn tv and putting it up , this concealing boxes and wires stuff is a bitch when the house isnt prewired to your exact location specs .

will update tomorrow with pics hopefully ,

You should have asked!
I would have advised against 50dt hdmi cables, and used port extenders. You can use those with 2 cat6 cables and go up to 380ft, plus cary the audio, ir, and more.
