This is me bumping an old thread but I was wondering about the drainage of the water in the pool but also about the dirt that will eventually compact and sink back there. Updates on the house?
you will have big problems if you didnt bust up the bottom of that pool. you have created a cesspool with no drainage for organic waste and rainwater....soon you will have a swamp and mosquito farm.
how did the former pool are come out? do you have a permanent mound in your yard ir has the dirt/clay settled any and you have a low spot? otherwise awesome thread/project. keep em coming. cant wait to see the finished bathroom
Wow amazing work. Glad to see someone has some dough and a hammer lol. I like the randomness of the projects. Keep up the good work.
Have fun! Our last big project was a bathroom... what a project. Can't wait to see more progress pictures Certainly can't be any worse than it started. Ours was peach and vomit green.
Make sure you clean the mold from behind the tub. Looks like it had probably been leaking for years.
Today, my son went to his mothers all day (mothers day) so I figured id get the room all cleaned up and ready to start construction beat up a good amount of tile behind the toilet...smh 40 years ago they built some fucked up shit My plan: build a custom shower pan (because I wasnt spending $800 on a shower pan that i wouldnt fit my goals), backer bored everything, tile everything, new toilet, speakers, mood lighting, built in tile shower bench, built in shelves and whatever else i can think of. The Shower Pan: the shower will be 61x32 the floor will consist of the base layer of mortar..to establish the slope for proper drainage (1/4 per foot). Then a layer of water proofing membrane, then another thinner layer of mortar, then tile..... the water proofing membrane will go up the walls about a foot, so that if there is ever a leak it will drain to the pan then to the shower drain. this is where Im at on 5-13-11. It took me a week to get to this point, mostly because i only can work on it an hour or so ad day.... Any questions, comments, calling me a dumb ass????? LOL and yes the pool is filled in! hahaha :P Mike!
After not being able to work on it a few days, I stepped up my dust mask here is the shower head wall by the toilet everything stripped uhhh ohhhh! and shortly after that i found this..... yes at the bottom of this hole is ground toilet gone Mike!
So last Sunday....at 5pm.... I have had enough...lol first I removed the sliding doors Then, after about 5 mins of just staring at it....I just went for it........ By this time it was 10 and time for bed.....and i was dying on the dust.... Improvised ventilation Improvised dust mask Mike!
Walking into the master: Sink area The bath area is pretty much 5 foot by 5 foot ITS NOT PINK! ITS SALMON!!!!! lol..... This is what I started with, so needless to say pretty much anything I do will be a huge improvement. My plans are to get rid of the shower/tub combo and put something a tad bit modern in it. Mike!
