Well, I was going to go to Egypt, but my itinerary has changed completely to Italy. I will be spending 4 nights in Rome, then driving up to Modena. I will be stopping in Montelcino on the drive up. I'll be in Modena for two nights, doing the Lambo and Ferrari events, then I'm off to Milan for another 2 nights. Does anyone have any recommendations for fun and unusual things to do and favorite restaurants?
That's a lot of KMs you're doing! But through the best part of Italy as far as I'm concerned.
When you're in Montalcino... drink lots and lots of "Brunello" - the best red wine in the world in my opinion.
Also, if you're in Modena/Maranello - you might want to whip over to Bologna and see the Ducati factory too.
Montalcino - drink and buy wine
Modena - its all about the Balsamic
If you're going to the Vatican, stop by at Old Bridge Gelateria for the best gelato in Rome. Next door, there is a sandwich shop (the name escapes me) which I absolutely loved. My guide said they had the best sandwiches in town and I believed him.
Thanks guys! Will be doing sandwich and gelato place after our vatican tour. I've had brunello and it's amazing! I will be stopping for a wine toru, where I get to taste from the barrels. It should be fun. A lot of KM's but I love driving (hope the alfa 159 is a good car!)
Italy was one of my best trips. Venice, Rome, Cinque Terre, Verona,Florence were great we had a blast in Rome the night life was awesome!!
