I can tell you from first hand experience. Buy the car!
Prices have come down a bit but are holding. Find one that is a deal, drive it until you are tired of it and then sell it.

It is one of the baddest cars on the road. I have a lot of cars and the SLR gets attention from everyone. Little kids to senior citizens point and stare. Computor geeks to crack dealers flag you dwn for a picture. Is it the most comfortable car for long periods of time, not really. There are so many positives to make it worth while!!

My wife drives hers almost every day. She loves it. We got it for a weekend car for her but once she got it she never drove her Bentley GT again!

The only issue is the brakes make noise every couple of weeks. She brought it by the deaer and they told her to let me drive it once in a while as she drives like a girl and the rotors need to be heated up an jammed on.
No ther issues, she loves it.
Since i bought the new CL65 as my spare car she has been taking it once in a while but still drives the SLR 95% of the time!
instead of these 3 you could take a veyron or a pagani zonda and 2 golfs gti to drive as dd :P

Personally, I see everyone of the cars you are referring to daily, albeit the sl65 black series is rare. I would go with the SLS.....the presence on the road is amazing.

    Thanks for the imput.
I have pretty much made my mind on an slr in either silver or red.
722 if i can find one and if the price is right.

my wife wants an sls sometime within the next couple of years though.

I think you just answered your deliema. Given whatever event(s) that contributed to you wanting a two door, go for your dream car. In a couple years the sls prices will come down just like any other benz.In the mean time you'd be in the car you always wanted and if you chose to move on... then you'd have no "what if" questions in your mind.
