    Default AMGfan Daily Driver Project...

Well, I'm getting rid of my Hyundai Accent as my daily driver...selling it to an in-law. With that said, I wanted another daily driver that could haul my wife and 2 kids (1 car seat) and was unique.

I had an acquaintance that I bought a set of LM's from for my 993tt and he PM'd me about a project car he was selling and he thought I might know of someone who would be interested in a project car like his...mind you...this was the same day I agreed to sell my Accent. Fate reared its expensive head...I said sure I'd ask around but in my head I was saying..."Damn...that is all me."

Some background...I love older Mercedes...70's-90's. Besides the obligatory, Porsche 930 Turbo and Lamborghini Countach poster during college...I had an AMG Hammer poster, too. Now this isn't the Hammer...it is a 1995 E320 Coupe that has been modified to have a subtle wide body. A homage to the Hammer but not over the top in styling like the Hammer. The interior is in superior condition and the car will come with a twin turbo kit...which should propel this "500ce" to mid to low 5's 0-60...enough for my daily driver.

So at this point we have a gentlemen's agreement...I met his asking price and it should be in my garage by the mid of June after the twin turbo kit is installed. Once I have it...it'll get some AMGfan love...the interior while beautiful will get redone in softer Ferrari white leather (blue piping and diamond biscuits in the seats and doors), all the wood trim will get re-cleared and polished, all carpet converted to black plusher carpet, the stereo will get upgraded, and we will try to get all the hard plastic trim painted piano black. That's it...for the interior.

The exterior is money...the only thing I might do is get a second set of wheels (still 50/50) for days I want a more aggressive look vs the period perfect Carlson wheels. I'm looking @ some Rotiform SJC Race wheels (last 3 pic...2 pics with wheels on a car)...polished lip and center.

Well...here will be my "Baby Hammer"...

Jon, you're the coolest crazy person I've come across in a while. Don't ever let anyone tell you, you're boring.

Thanks Markus...to be honest with you I was thinking of getting an E63TT. A lot faster and technology up the wazoo...but you know what? I just couldn't get excited about it or for that matter any new sedan out now. I already have fast and faster cars and most of the tech in cars today is beyond me...

I just wanted something reliable, relatively roomy, and a car that excited me and would make people do a double take and ask themselves what exactly they saw. Plus a the 2 door coupe look is money...and after we get through with the interior it'll be a extra special daily driver.

Amzing car. COngrats. I just sold my W124 1995 E280 in Feb of this year and after 12 years of ownership it never skipped a beat! It never broke down on me. Never over heated on me. Perfect car. One day i'll get another W124 but this time it'll be the famous E500

Best of luck with your project and cant wait to see update pics.
