Someone Built This Insane Teepee House in A Japanese Forest

You can now add a forest teepee house to the list of cool things to see in Japan. Dubbed Nasu, the unique home was designed by the NAP architect studio for a nature-loving married couple. In fact, the teepee was constructed around the existing trees and raised off of the ground so that native vegetation in the area wouldn’t be harmed.

But how does one actually live in a house shaped like a triangle? The pyramid shape of the roof allows for a ton of natural light and creates a heat trap – that hot air is released through tiny windows at the peak of each roof in summer and in winter is fanned through the walls of the home and out through the floor (to naturally heat the space).

The cool angles of the home offer up some pretty unique views of the surrounding forest area and also create awesome outdoor spaces that the owners can take advantage of any time of year!
