Top 5 Most Outrageous New Green Supercars at the Geneva Auto Show

Not too long ago, being eco-friendly and being a supercar were mutually exclusive — a car could be one, but definitely not both.

These days, many serious sports cars has some sort of hybrid system in its powertrain, and some are even ditching gas entirely and going all-electric. Green car technology has come such a long way in such a short time, and the tech just keeps progressing. Green supercars were a recurring theme at this year’s 2016 Geneva Motor Show, and here are the Top 5 most outrageous ones that debuted.

5. Rimac Concept_One (Pictured Above)

This EV is quite the looker and its maker claims that the Concept_One is the world’s first all-electric hypercar. Only eight of these will be produced, and six of them have already sold. The Concept_Oneis powered by four “extremely powerful permanent magnet electric motors,” one for each wheel located in the center of both axles. The four motors generate a total output of 1,088 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque. As a result, the all-electric hypercar is capable of going zero to 62 mph in just 2.6 seconds.

3. DS E-Tense Concept

With an all-electric powertrain pumping out 402 horsepower and 381 pound-feet of torque, DS claims the E-Tense has a range of about 193 miles with mixed driving or 224 miles in urban driving. The E-Tense definitely looks like a supercar, and with that brilliant metallic green paint job, the EV was getting a lot of attention on the show floor.

2. Techrules Concept

Techrules Concept-2Coming as China’s first official take on a supercar, this concept wins the award for most wildly optimistic green car. This all-electric concept from Chinese company Techrules makes some very far-fetched claims: 1,030 horsepower and 6,372 pound-feet of torque, a top speed of 217 mph, and a range of more than 1,243 miles. Sound too good to be true? It probably is.

1. Arash AF10

Arash AF10Cranking up the crazy dial is the Arash AF10 that made its world debut in Geneva. The hybrid hypercar is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 and four electric motors. Putting out 2,080 horsepower and 1,682 pound-feet of torque, it claims a zero-to-60-mph time of just 2.8 seconds and the company also claims that it has a top speed of over 201 mph. The company says this insane powertrain has “warp drive” and that the AF10 has more in common with a spaceship than a car.
